**Your Opportunity**
Are you a seasoned Lighting Designer with a passion for illuminating exceptional spaces? Our Buildings Specialty Lighting practice at Stantec is expanding, and we're seeking a talented individual with architectural lighting design experience to join our award-winning team. This role offers the chance to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team on high-profile projects, developing innovative lighting solutions from concept to construction.
Stantec's Lighting Design team offers talented professionals the opportunity to transform visions into designs that illuminate some of the most impressive buildings in the world. We are looking to add a lighting designer with 4 – 8 years of experience to our award-winning Lighting Design group. The candidate would be responsible for the development of design solutions, creative problem solving, collaboration with the design team, owner, and other lighting staff, overseeing design intent, luminaire selection, lighting control approach, energy code compliance, documentation, details, construction administration and project costs.
The preferred candidate will be a motivated self-starter that enjoys working collaboratively alongside other creative minds and problem solvers in a team setting.
This position will be hybrid with at least 3-days per week in person at the Chicago, Denver or Seattle office.
**Your Key Responsibilities**
Project Involvement - approximately 90% of time.
+ Develop lighting design solutions and collaborate with the design team.
+ Produce lighting layouts and design documentation in Revit.
+ Develop and analyze photometric calculations utilizing AGI32 or LightStanza software for verification of design intent.
+ Implement energy code compliant designs and calculate code compliance.
+ Create Lighting control intent documentation and specifications.
+ Develop and deliver engaging presentations, including renderings, graphics, and reports, effectively communicating lighting design concepts to clients and stakeholders.
+ Develop luminaire schedules and design-appropriate product specification cut-sheets.
+ Develop and review mock-ups and test sample luminaires to support design strategies.
+ Attend and engage in project design meetings, as applicable.
+ Effectively delegate work to production support teams as needed.
+ Develop efficient and accurate solutions to design/integration problems.
+ Support project requirements including opinion-of-probable-cost estimates, drawing documentation, and systems design.
+ Apply basic technical skills and design documentation processes to produce accurate, timely deliverables, within budget, aligned with client expectations.
+ Collaborate across the practice to enhance our commitment to an integrated practice model and the value of design excellence.
+ Develop lighting designs for a variety of project types including, but not limited to, commercial workplace, civic, educational, healthcare, multi-family residential, hospitality, cultural, aviation, and transportation.
Marketing approximately 5% of time
+ Enhance internal awareness of Stantec’s Lighting Design service offerings.
+ Represent the firm through thought leadership engagements and attendance at industry and community events and conferences.
+ Engage with project proposals and review of scope language and alignment with project fees.
+ Showcase Lighting Design expertise through awards submissions to enhance Stantec’s position as an industry leader.
Learning/Maintaining and Expanding Technical Skills – approximately 5% of time.
+ Engage with industry organizations and vendor relationships related to Lighting Design.
+ Develop and maintain knowledge of technologies, integration platforms, and trends in the Lighting market.
+ Proactively pursue additional knowledge in related disciplines by attending available in house and external training.
+ Drive a culture of innovation and incorporate industry trends including operational efficiencies, user satisfaction, evidence-based design, sustainability, and high-performance lighting design.
**Qualifications**
**Your Capabilities and Credentials**
+ Motivated self-starter with can-do collaborative team approach to project work and assignments.
+ Competent knowledge of and proficiency working in Revit and BIM tools such as Enscape and Navisworks.
+ Professional experience specific to lighting design and control systems in a variety of projects including, but not limited to, commercial workplace, civic, educational, healthcare, multi-family residential, hospitality, cultural, aviation, and transportation.
+ Familiarity with, and ability to produce, project-related documents, including sketches, graphic packages, and reports to appropriate standards.
+ Knowledge of codes and standards applicable to the industry.
+ Familiarity with and ability to apply sustainable and human-centric design principles within projects, including LEED and WELL Building Standard.
+ Ability to prepare and review detailed drawings.
+ Ability to read, interpret, and act upon information included in specifications, submittals, RFIs, etc.
+ Ability to work independently with support from the full Stantec Lighting Design team when needed.
+ Regional and national travel is required on occasion.
+ Able to apply best practices of appropriate content for lighting drawings (plans, elevations, sections, and details), calculations, lighting controls, and specifications.
+ Well-developed communication and interpersonal skills.
+ Strong prioritization and time-management skills.
+ Competent knowledge of photometric tools such as AGI32 or LightStanza, photometric toolbox, and IES files.
+ Must have a valid drivers license & a clean MVR.
**Education and Experience**
+ Bachelor's degree in related design field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Minimum of 4 years of related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and related experience. The related experience shall be predominately in architectural lighting design.
+ Preferred Auxiliary Qualifications
+ IALD or IES membership and engagement.
+ LEED or WELL accredited professional.
+ Lighting Certified (LC).

Pay transparency laws require employers to provide the following information for positions that may be in the following jurisdiction(s):
**Salary Range(s):**
* $71,900 - $104,300 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in CO, HI, MD and IL
* $77,200 - $111,900 Min/Max Pay Range for postings located in WA and DC
The final agreed upon compensation is based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. At Stantec certain roles are bonus eligible.

Temporary/casual employees have access to 401(k) plans, employee stock purchase program, and paid leave, in accordance with state and local law.
+ Washington state employees are eligible to accrue 1 hour of paid sick leave for every 40 hours worked except for Seattle employees who accrue sick leave in accordance with the city’s paid sick leave law.
