JOB DESCRIPTION

We are looking for an experienced producer with excellent communication skills to join The Bottom Line with Dagen McDowell & Sean Duffy FOX Business. As Line Producer, your primary responsibility each day will be translating the editorial “vision” for the show into an organized rundown and overseeing its live production on air. This includes building the rundown, making timing decisions, and copyediting producer assignments. You must be assertive, detail-oriented, inquisitive, and a natural self-starter. You’re also an active consumer of political and business news with impeccable judgment and unrivaled organizational skills. Most of all, you must be an effective communicator who can serve as the main point of contact for producers during the day and talent/crew during the broadcast. You should be able to improvise and make smart decisions on-the-fly in a way that inspires the people around you to follow your lead. 

A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES 

Build and maintain the corresponding rundown throughout the day, this includes updating it regularly throughout the day as the show evolves with the news of the day 

Provide editorial guidance to producers

Copyediting all scripts, lower thirds, elements, etc.; Raise red flags early and offer solutions 

Write all teases and handle promo elements for the show

Produce segments as needed

Guide the technical crew through each element of the show using calm and clear instructions 

Keep the hosts on time using clear and effective cues 

Monitor the aesthetics of the screen to make sure visuals support the conversation 

Effectively manage your own time and attention; prioritize and delegate tasks when necessary 

WHAT YOU WILL NEED 

3-5 years of prior live television (or similar) experience 

Bachelor’s degree in journalism or a related field of study preferred, or equivalent experience 

Experience in a live control room 

Experience interacting with high-profile talent 

Exceptional editorial skills; ability to recognize stories and elements with high potential for compelling television 

Effective communication skills; ability to provide clarity and reassurance in high-pressure situations 

Passion for organization; ability to simplify complicated tasks under pressure 

Solid base of technical skills (specifically newsroom and video editing software) 

Strong interest/knowledge of business news, current events, and politics 

Willingness to listen, learn and grow from constructive criticism

Pursuant to state and local pay disclosure requirements, the pay range for this role, with final offer amount dependent on education, skills, experience, and location is: $84,500.00-103,000.00 annually for New York City and Westchester County, NY. This role is also eligible for various benefits, including medical/dental/vision, insurance, a 401(k) plan, paid time off, and other benefits in accordance with applicable plan documents. Benefits for Union represented employees will be in accordance with the applicable collective bargaining agreement.
