**Overview** We are seeking a talented and dedicated linguist to join our team in support of the Texas Department of Public Safety - Criminal Investigations Division (CID). The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and be proficient in **Spanish** or another language, in addition to having excellent command of the English language. **Essential Job Duties** + Conduct linguistic analysis and research on assigned projects. + Translate and interpret documents, conversations, and audio recordings from the target language(s) to English and vice versa. + Provide linguistic expertise and support across various departments. + Collaborate with other linguists and professionals to ensure accuracy and consistency in language use. + Participate in language assessment tests and evaluations. **Minimum Requirements** + Proficiency in Spanish or another language, demonstrated through a language assessment. + Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English. + Strong analytical and research skills. + Ability to work independently and as part of a team. + Good to excellent computer skills, including proficiency in word processing and other relevant software. **Preferred Qualifications** + Associate or Bachelor's degree preferred in Linguistics, Foreign Languages, or a related field preferred. + Experience in translation, interpretation, or linguistic research. + Familiarity with linguistic software tools and databases. + Knowledge of cultural nuances and sensitivity in language use. **Work Environment** + Must be willing to work weekends. + Must work flexible schedule **Commitment to Diversity** SOSi does not discriminate against job applicants or employees on any legally recognized basis including, but not limited to age, race, color, religion, national origin, genetic information, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, marital status, disability, veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable U.S. federal, state, and local laws.
