YOUR CONTRIBUTION TO OUR SUCCESS!

Primarily responsible for providing HIV/STI/Hepatitis testing, community outreach, individual intervention, and group facilitation to target population in the community and agency.

In addition to other duties, this position is responsible for

Conduct HIV/STD and Hepatitis C screenings which includes collection of blood samples and urine specimens adhering to universal precautions.Engages, counsels, manages, motivates, and effectively works with high-risk, vulnerable patient population, including chemically dependent persons.Assesses clients’ educational and risk-reduction needs and assists clients in developing risk reduction strategies for reducing high-risk behavior.Develops and delivers disease prevention, intervention, and health promotion presentations to various audiences in the community.Engages in street outreach in public places in targeted population areas which consists of communicating information about the availability of HIV services.Provides HIV education, including basic information regarding prevention of transmission.Documents all activities and services provided and submits required documentation in a timely manner.Accurately enters all data as required into various databases.Provide linkage and navigation for health care, support services and risk reduction activities.Facilitate groups and individual interventions including screening, testing, life skills, social rehabilitation, and risk reduction.Attend and participate in staff meetings, program meetings, and staff training as determined by supervisor.Follow through on verbal and written communication from the Program Manager and follow policies and procedures of the program.

Skills/ Requirements

High-School Diploma or GED equivalent required.Two years of Substance Abuse Training and/or one year of job-related experience preferred.Knowledge of HIV/AIDS and conducting intervention/prevention services with minority and at-risk preferred.Hours vary and must be able to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends.Must have a strong comfort level working with the target population as well as working some late nights at locations with high traffic of target population.Knowledge of community / County resourcesExcellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to communicate with diverse populations in public settings.Ability to effectively engage and work in a stressful environment with high-risk, vulnerable client population and persons in crisis.Ability to effectively communicate with people at all levels and from various backgrounds.Ability to maintain a strong sense of respect for confidentiality involving both clients and fellow employees.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, other agencies, and the public.Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and meet established deadlines.Basic computer skills required:  Microsoft outlook email, office.Basic math skills required: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.Ability to work independently with minimal direction.Knowledge of basic risk reduction methodsBasic Assessment SkillsAbility to formulate interventions/recommendations based on assessment.Basic individual intervention skillsBasic Group facilitation skills. Ability to legally operate a motor vehicle and provide own transportation.

Important Notes

Certificates/Training/Licenses:

HIV/AIDS knowledge preferred.Certification in Phlebotomy preferred.Valid Florida Driver’s License and ongoing proof of insurance required.HIV 500/501

Must pass all drug and background screening requirements, including a level 2 federal background and motor vehicle screening.
