LIS Infrastructure Analyst
CTG is seeking a LIS infrastructure analyst to support our client on the west coast. This position is contract to hire. Under general supervision of the Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) Manager, this position is responsible for providing administrative and technical expertise in the development, installation, and ongoing maintenance of information systems, instrumentation and other software platforms used in the Clinical Lab, Pathology and Genomics Services departments and their satellite sites throughout the institution. They will identify and define departmental and system requirements, problems and issues; evaluate and determine methods and means for resolution; implement changes; and advise end-users of solutions and any procedural modifications. They will need to be sensitive to cost effectiveness and user requirements as well as overall objectives of the department. This position will interact with faculty, staff, Medical Center IT personnel, external departments and outside vendors and consultants. They works independently on small to medium problems and projects. This position is responsible for working with clients at multiple campuses therefore, the incumbent must be willing to travel. Experience managing/maintaining one or more of the following LIS is strongly preferred: SCC Soft Sunquest Cerner CoPath Key responsibilities Manages systems and services for a facility of moderate size comprising multiple, integrated systems. Makes recommendations for purchase or upgrade of new computer hardware, software and services. Performs moderately complex analysis to acquire, install, modify and support operating systems, middleware applications, instrumentation, databases, utilities and / or tools. Applies and manages complex security configurations. Assists in LIS hardware and client software updates. This includes periodic LIS application checks, resolve error logs, perform backups, initiate monthly scheduled jobs and related LIS activities, follows IT Security compliance & remediation initiatives, etc. Coordinate lab systems vendor interactions and activities both on and off-site. Supports current software applications within Lab, Pathology and/or Genetics/Genomics areas. Troubleshoots and resolves the most complex issues. Designs and coordinates work flow of support requests, setting priorities and tracking resolution. Ensures compliance with and provides input to service level agreements Programming and Data Analytics support New and ongoing user training support Skills Advanced skills associated with programming design, modification and implementation. Basic knowledge of secure software development. Demonstrated ability to create software specifications. Demonstrated ability to install software and troubleshoot and repair moderately complex problems with computing devices, peripherals and software. Understanding of and experience troubleshooting client, server and peripherals-related issues and actions that can be taken to improve or correct performance. Experience in incident response and digital forensics, including data collection, examination and analysis. Solid working knowledge of networking and experience with HL7 interface protocols. Familiarity with logical data design and data mapping or data conversion. Advanced knowledge of computer security tools, best practices and policies including demonstrated experience securing server-based software. Demonstrated skill at administering moderately complex security controls and configurations to computer hardware, software and networks. Familiarity with data quality and governance issues and requirements. Interpersonal skills sufficient to work with both technical and non-technical personnel at various levels in the organization. Ability to elicit and communicate technical and non-technical information in a clear and concise manner Thorough knowledge of business and process analysis functions. Knowledge of the design, development and application of technology and systems to meet business needs. Demonstrated experience with database administration. Working knowledge of database management systems and standards. Knowledge relating to database system design. Advanced database querying and modeling skills working with moderately complex databases. Education Bachelor's degree in Computer Science and / or equivalent experience / training. 4-8 years professional experience in a technical setting, with information systems expertise including analytical and troubleshooting skills Expertise in one or more programming language, DBMS, operating systems Expertise with PC workstations, including desktop operating systems such as WIN Excellent verbal and written English communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group are required. Salary offers are based on a wide range of factors including relevant skills, training, experience, education, market factors, and where applicable, licensure or certifications obtained.
