Litigation Assistant
A reputable law firm is seeking a motivated and experienced individual to join an established litigation team focused on intellectual property (IP) litigation. About the Position:
This role provides excellent exposure to various aspects of IP litigation, allowing you to build expertise in the field. The position involves managing administrative tasks, maintaining organized filing systems, and liaising with external parties such as the Federal Court and other legal entities. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a collaborative environment while enhancing your knowledge of IP litigation.

Key Responsibilities:Organizing and tracking due dates and filing deadlines, ensuring all documents are properly filed.Assisting in general practice administration, including drafting correspondence, processing client invoices, handling third-party payments (such as to experts and consultants), and managing expense reimbursements.Collaborating with law clerks to schedule Court dates and assist with preparing court forms, pleadings, and related documentation.Managing client administrative tasks, billing requirements, and conflict searching.Supporting the team by maintaining calendars, scheduling appointments, and coordinating travel logistics.Becoming well-versed in the firm’s internal policies and relevant administrative procedures.Offering support to other team members, as needed, when workload permits.Building and maintaining positive relationships with external counsel, Courts, agencies, and professional organizations.Taking on additional responsibilities as required.The Requirements:
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications:A Legal Assistant Diploma.At least 2 to 5 years of experience in a litigation role, particularly within an IP environment, including experience working with the Federal Court. Experience with Ontario Courts is a plus.A proactive and highly organized individual with a keen eye for detail and strong proofreading abilities.Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel and PowerPoint.Familiarity with iManage is an asset.Compensation:$60,000 - $70,000 annual salary.RRSP match after probationary period.3 weeks vacation.
