Summary
Transport live chickens from poultry farms to the processing plant by means of tractor and trailer within required time constraints.
Principal and Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Makes a pre-trip and post-trip inspection of truck and trailer and fill out DOT inspection forms at end of each trip.
Drives to and from farms, making 1 to 4 trips day and night with a driving range of 30 minutes to 4 hours without a stop.
Must carry cover during winter and assist with covering load when temperature is below 30 degrees.
Must cross scale with tractor and trailer before going to farms and when returning fill trucks with fuel before scaling the full load.
Make sure empty modular are secured before leaving plant and make sure full modulers are secured before returning.
Minimum Education
High School or equivalent
Experience Requirements
2 years experience. Reading, writing and math skills are required. Must have a valid commercial driver's license (class A) and meet all relevant requirements provided by the company Safety department.
Experience Preferred
Environmental Factors and Physical Requirements
The driver cab is climate controlled. Exposed to seasonal weather and temperature conditions occasionally at the farms. Ability to remain seated up to 3 hours while operating tractor and trailer. Ability to lift up to 60 lbs and climb 15 ft on truck.
