Crating Associate 2

JOB DETAILS

Base Pay: $21.50 - $22.50 per hour

Swing Shift: 2:00 PM - 10:30 PM

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Work as part of team to assemble wooden crates for packing windows/doors. Assemble wooden crates to package units that will be shipped via container to offshore customers.

Receive and review paperwork from shipping officeReview first orderVisualize and determine best possible crate size for orderMeasure and cut wood pieces (using chop saw) for crateBuild crate shell using a staple gunRetrieve first order of window/door units from storage racks, place unit into waiting cart for transportMove cart loaded with windows/doors to work areaRemove product identification stickers from unitsFit products into crate shell, add foam to secure and cushionBrace units with additional wood pieces, staple face piece of crate in place, and affix product sticker to crateMark address, purchase order number, quantity, onto outside of crateLift completed crate with forkliftUsing forklift, weigh crate and record weight on outside of crate. Enter weight and number of pieces into databaseMove crate to staging areaComplete and return paperwork to shipping officeAssist in other Shipping positions as requiredPerform quality control tasks: visually inspects wood, PVC and glass for imperfections, place rejects in specified areaSweep, wipe surfaces, blow surfaces clean with air hose, empty waste/recycling containers, and/or clean work area as needed throughout the shiftComplete and maintain production paperwork as required Qualifications Ability to visualize and determine crate dimensionsAbility to perform complex measurements and calculations to set crate dimensionsAbility to safely operate forklift and scale equipmentAbility to safely operate chop saw to cut crate pieces and staple gun to assemble piecesAbility to prioritize work tasks according to production requirementsAbility to visually perceive scratches, irregularities, or other imperfections in materialsAbility to comprehend written instructions, measurements, or coding spelled out on production paperwork/tagsAbility to complete primary functions of the job on a continual basis in a fast-paced production environmentAbility to become familiar with the Shipping department’s positions and proceduresAbility to follow safety guidelines, policies and procedureAbility to perform basic addition, subtraction, multiplication and divisionAbility to make sound judgments and decisions as required to complete job functions/tasksAbility to perform repetitive or short-cycle workAbility to work effectively under stress and/or tight deadlinesAbility to willingly follow instructions both written and verbalAbility to multi-tasks job dutiesAbility to contribute to a safe and drug free workplaceAbility to meet quality standardsAbility to read, write and speak simple English as appropriate to a manufacturing environment Additional information

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $21.50 - $22.50 + medical, dental, vision benefits starting day 1 + 401k and PTO. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. Individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
