Loan Assistant
Job Title: Loan AssistantJob Description We are seeking a skilled Loan Assistant to join our team in partnership with a local bank. The ideal candidate will assist in ordering related documents from third-party vendors and external institutions for commercial loans, manage customer files, and collaborate with the Relationship Management and Loan Servicing teams. Responsibilities + Prepare documentation sheets and ensure all items are received in a timely manner. + Correspond with various institutions and vendors to obtain necessary information such as title commitments, UCC pre-searches and filings, environmental reports, appraisals, and flood and tax services; review for accuracy. + Order and review loan documents to ensure accuracy including rate, term, proper vesting, legal descriptions, dates, and signatures. + Maintain a tickler system to follow-up on covenants as required by loan agreements. + Work with Title Company to ensure liens are recorded accurately and final title commitments are received. + Assist with pending items/documentation from customers, institutions, and vendors as needed. + Track and follow up on file maintenance including rate and payment changes, automatic payments, online banking, insurance, UCC renewals, financial statements, tax returns, corporate status verification, and inspections. + Assist Loan Servicing with file maintenance and needed documentation. + Actively participate in bank-related and community volunteer events. + Assist Relationship Managers with marketing and workflow as needed. + Monitor loans serviced through loan servicing to ensure required changes are made accurately; liaise with other departments. + Refer potential candidates for bank products and services for follow-up and sale closure. + Provide clerical assistance including answering telephones, taking messages, and assisting customers and branch personnel with loan-related questions or problems. + Maintain and balance holdover accounts, balance budgets, and upload accounts payable for the department. + Assist with marketing for the department as needed. + Complete and maintain reports, forms, and files for adverse action to ensure compliance. + Ensure documents comply with the bank’s lending policies and procedures. + Prepare monthly Production Reports, and compile Maturing Loans Reports and Past Due Reports monthly. + Maintain service level expectations as defined by the bank. + Perform related duties as assigned. + Comply with applicable laws and regulations, including the Bank Secrecy Act, the Patriot Act, and the Office of Foreign Assets Control. Essential Skills + 3+ years of administrative banking experience, specifically in commercial loans. + Strong written and verbal communication skills. + High school diploma or equivalent. + Fundamental understanding of banking, accounting, legal, or related experience. + Ability to multi-task and handle complex tasks efficiently. + Strong organizational skills with attention to detail. + Excellent customer service experience. Additional Skills & Qualifications + Proficiency with Microsoft applications (Word, Excel, Outlook) and other basic office equipment. Work Environment Work hours are from 8am to 5pm, onsite. The position reports to the department head. Major opportunity for growth is available, with a career track leading to higher levels of Loan Assistant and Credit Analyst roles, along with corresponding pay increases. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $21.00 - $25.00/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
