Role Summary:
The Local Market Affordability Senior Manager will closely interface with market Total Medical Cost teams, regional counterparts, Competitive Insights, and National Local Market Affordability Team, to understand emerging trends, validate opportunities and share best practices.
Synthesize local strategies and National recommendations to help key matrix partners strategize, prioritize, and work to close affordability gap and drive profitable growth.
Highlight, understand and communicate emerging trends and evaluate opportunities for improving Affordability across all key segments and products in the local markets across the region. Be knowledgeable of emerging trend drivers in markets and overarching themes at a regional level. Direct/perform deep dive analyses of these themes to support regional strategy development. Continuously reviews reporting from different segments of Medical Economics, makes recommendations on package for local market affordability review and Health Care Trend Analytics tool enhancements.
Understand local market network and product offerings, affordability drivers and reporting needs. Determine best practices and data sources to drive efficiency and consistency. Drive savings opportunity assessment and knowledge sharing across the region.
This position is the subject matter expert that consults across the markets on reporting and savings opportunities.
Duties and Responsibilities
Consolidates local market affordability strategies within the region to clearly articulate key actions across all markets and segments
Understand the local market needs for reporting. Supports adoption of Interactive Insights Analytics tool, makes recommendations for future reporting enhancements
Leads Regional Total Medical Cost meetings to bring common market themes to the attention of Regional Medical Executive and Regional Vice President for further vetting and potential incorporation into the local strategies
Attends local Total Medical Cost meetings to identify hotspots and regional opportunities, ensures national reporting is reviewed
Maintains relationships with National Total Medical Cost team, Cigna Collaborative Care Leads on Risk Analytics team, and National Contracting to ensure effective communication of reporting results, activities/asks and to avoid duplication of efforts
Support Ad-Hoc analytics as needed to understand affordability drivers
Partnering with TMC manager, TMC analysts on local market initiatives, encouraging knowledge and adoption of the prioritized initiatives
SME on national initiatives and be the first point of contact for the market should questions on National initiatives arise
Influence key matrix partners to ensure goals and targets are met.
Drives change initiatives to address developing business needs. Acts as a catalyst to spark enthusiasm, collaboration and results
Qualifications:
5+ years of medical and financial experience in healthcare
Significant experience in driving medical cost and affordability saving strategies
Proven skill in understanding market dynamics (healthcare providers, employers, and competitors, skill/experience in quality/payment innovation programs, health plan performance, etc.) to set strategies/tactics to achieve both cost and quality objectives
Strategic thinker with both sound and broad business acumen
Strong technical skills such as SQL, SAS EG, TOAD and Databricks
Previous work experience applying a combination of analytical, technical and business acumen
Experience working successfully in a matrix environment
Change leader who is proactive in assisting in positive growth for the future
Extensive knowledge of both the PPO and managed care environments, including product offerings, competitor offerings and healthcare provider value-based reimbursement programs
Demonstrated ability to influence, persuade, and collaborate with audiences at various levels of experience and responsibility
Acts decisively, takes charge, and initiates action and is focused on achieving business results
