Assures the security of campus buildings and equipment by performing journeyman-level locksmith services for all University buildings with an electronic access control emphasis. Performs complex work in the efficient installation, maintenance, and repair of electronic access control and systems according to the shop's overall responsibilities. Accomplishes this by applying journeyman-level electronic skills in conjunction with technical knowledge and following established guidelines. Works as a member of a team on various projects or assignments.

QualificationsMinimum Qualifications:
Minimum of 4 years current and related work experience between Locksmithing and access control.Current and directly related experience in locksmithing.Preferred Qualifications:
Commercial/Institutional electronics experience.Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of keys, keyways, key manufacturers, key duplication machines, and key duplication techniques.Current and directly related experience in locksmithing.Knowledge of electronic principles and theory.Knowledge of electronic circuits and components.Skill in reading electronic schematics and wiring diagrams to perform testing and troubleshooting of circuits.Knowledge of function, grades, and the methods of installation of locking hardware and electronic access control systems.Basic computer skills.Records maintenance skills.Customer service skills.Skill in the use of various hand and power tools applicable to trade.Skill in working with tolerances of 1/1000th of an inch.Ability to cut and issue keys, re-key, install and repair locks and hardware.Ability to effectively communicate with co-workers and customers.Ability to work with minimal supervision.Ability to learn key codes and master keying techniques.
