**Job Purpose:**
Oversee the Progress Rail onsite maintenance operation at the assigned facility. This person will be the onsite point of contact for any issues related to the SD70ACe and Intermediate fleets. Primarily focusing on managing the local Progress Rail team. Ensure technical and material support to the customer. Provide a positive customer service experience to the customer. Maintain ongoing, effective communication with all internal and external relevant parties. The person in this position is expected to continually identify opportunities for improvement and potential future risks and take appropriate action.

• Operate and promote a safe working environment. Responsible for the reporting of Close Calls and accidents/incidents in a timely manner;
• Responsible for the scheduling of the Technical Support team, vacation, and OT management;
• Responsible for hiring to fill open positions;
• Establish a rapport with customer management and maintenance facility personnel;
• Leads, coaches, and manages performance of facility personnel; provides them with daily work assignments; monitors productivity in all areas- Provides feedback to team regarding performance, quality, and productivity issues;
• Serves as PRS primary point of contact for the maintenance facility;
• Performs all functions of Technical Support Engineer as necessary;
• Support overall service contract projects, initiatives, and commitments such as material ordering, technical training, and asset management;
• Support customer in the completion of Scheduled Maintenance tasks and provide technical support for Unscheduled Maintenance;
• Document incidents or issues encountered with the equipment and track issues to resolution;
• Ensure quality of work completed at the assigned facility;
• Work with the local customer to generate ideas and procedures that will make future jobs more efficient and communicate these initiatives with PRS management.
**Qualifications and Experience:**
• 5+ years of experience in locomotive repair, including mechanical and electrical theory and
electrical/mechanical systems troubleshooting;
• 5+ years of experience working in an industrial or maintenance environment related to technical field service;
• 3+ years of experience with direct customer service;
• Experience managing people;
• Background in rolling stock maintenance and commissioning or other rail-related experience will be preferred;
• Candidates should be able to use Microsoft Office suite application to generate reports, presentations, email communications and work with spreadsheets;
• Candidates must be able to effectively communicate to executives and local craft and customer;
• Open to change; flexible with ability to switch responsibilities daily, as needed in highly diversified duties;
Essential and Physical Activities Functions
• Strength – Position typically involves office managerial work as well as oversight of field industrial
activities. Frequent sitting, standing, and walking. Occasional light-to-medium lifting (up to 30 pounds);
• Motion – Position regularly requires standard motions associated with an office environment. It also may
involve occasional motions associated with an industrial environment focused on locomotive repair,
including reaching, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, handling, grasping, and feeling;
• Vision/Hearing Requirements – Constant verbal communications, including both talking and hearing;
• Work Environment – Position is Safety Sensitive and will require occasional use of Personal Protective
Equipment. Position typically involves a normal office environment, but also may occasionally involve
work in a non-temperature-controlled environment and exposure to noise (85+ decibels), exposure to
atmospheric conditions as well as extreme temperatures and temperature changes, exposure to
hazardous materials, heavy equipment, and other hazardous working conditions;
• Emotional Demands – Very high level of responsibility and physical workload. Requires interpersonal skills
while working with a group to meet customer service demands;
• Safety – Position is safety sensitive, as it requires working in and around live tracks and operation and
repair of heavy equipment. Position requires strict adherence to safety policies (i.e., blue flag) and use of
all PPE.
