Job Title: Family Nurse Practitioner / Acute Care NursePractitioner Location: Fluvanna Correctional Center for Women, Troy, VA Job Type: Locum Tenens Start Date: ASAP Duration: 13 weeks with an option to extend Schedule: Full Time, Monday to Friday, 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM Job Description: The Virginia Department ofCorrections (DOC) is seeking highly qualified Family Nurse Practitioners orAcute Care Nurse Practitioners to join our team at the Fluvanna CorrectionalCenter for Women. This is a unique opportunity to provide acute care, infirmary,and emergency medicine services in a correctional setting. Key Responsibilities: + Provide comprehensive acute care and emergency medical services to inmates + Manage a variety of cases and procedures in the infirmary + Utilize paper charting for medical records + Collaborate with a full supporting cast of RNs, Behavioral Health Therapists, Psychologists, and Physicians + Perform suturing and other in-office procedures as needed + Stabilize patients and coordinate transfers to local hospitals for serious conditions Requirements: + Valid DEA and BLS certifications + Ability to prescribe autonomously (no collaborative agreement required) + VA State License (no licensure candidates) + Minimum of 3 years of NP experience required for autonomous prescriptive authority Additional Information: + Must have experience in critical care and comfortable working independently in the infirmary + No on-call or callback duties + Patient volume varies; more details will be provided upon request Interview Process: + Phone interview + On-site shadowing for orientation + Onboarding requirements typically taking 2 to 3 weeks If interested, please senda recent copy of your CV to kamitche@amergis.comand the best time to connect and discuss the position further.
