POSITION SCOPE:
The primary mission is to ensure the timely delivery of the product based on exception processing of outbound and inbound loads using the corporate Transportation Management System (TMS) for carrier selection (based on cost, service, and level of commitment) and proactively managing regional shipping area to increase automation and suggest/implement improvements. This role is focused on facility shipment execution ensuring there is ample transportation capacity to meet customers on time delivery expectations. The perfect candidate will be able to manage their book of business by building relationships with customers, carriers, and facilities; ensuring operational excellence execution and problem solving/resolving transportation challenges timely to support distribution of goods domestically.
A key aspect of this role is dealing with French Canadian partners, so we require someone who speaks English/French Canadian.
POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:
Facility Shipment Execution/Customer Experience:
Transportation Liaison between plants, carriers, and customers. Daily focus will be on shipment execution ensuring shipments pick up and deliver to plan. The team supports regions and shippers across the Supply Chain network and is tasked with ensuring on-time pickup and delivery of freight. First line of defense in understanding network trends, delays, dwells, and other exceptions that impact GPI’s ability to deliver a world class transportation product that serves its customers on time. Daily Leads Shipment Plan Execution for assigned facilities: Coordinate shipments, Coverage of shipments, track shipments, and ensure timely delivery and pickup. In the case of disruptions, the Operations team is responsible for addressing the disruption, keeping all stakeholders informed and ensuring timely resolution of the issue. Management of trailer pools, ensuring ample equipment availability at time of production and timely turn of equipment to meet customers on time expectations. Respond to customer complaints and notify customers of shipment delays. Positive mentality to resolute transportation issues for the best customer experience. Deliver follow through on the resolutions to ensure the information is delivered. Providing real time customer experience by working in a fast-paced operating environment will be able to understand the process and requirements/be able to analyze data and notice trends and be able to drive Customer Experience without compromising on time. Weekly escalate BU operational issues to Supervisor: such as mode changes (permanent or short term?), GPI location short lead times. Be prepared to discuss operation items that GPI needs for them to improve on, what they are performing well, etc.
Route Guide Management/ Carrier Relationship and Spot Buy:
Carrier route guide management: holding carriers accountable to accepting their awarded volumes. Solicit, negotiate, and award spot quoted loads to meet or exceed the logistics cost/ton by BU goal according to department guidelines, procedures, and approval processes. Understand performance metrics to assist with driving business results; Pull data from numerous databases and to perform ad hoc reporting and analysis as needed. Knowledge to systematically escalate problems or variance in the information and data to the relevant owners and teams. Communication, both verbal and written as their data and findings are critical to tracking trends and performance inefficiencies. Weekly and monthly provide carrier operational info (carrier tender time-outs, tender rejections, etc.) and route guide adds & changes (provide analysis of savings/increase in cost per change requested) to managers. Actively collaborate with contracted carriers on meeting/exceeding operational requirements (service levels, equipment commitments, resolve failures prior to requesting removal, etc.) and strengthen the partnership. Implement and maintain company policy and standard operating procedures to ensure compliance with the USDOT requirements. Maintain continuous contact with transport service providers to understand their daily operations and secure and coordinate uninterrupted transportation services and materials flow to and from North American markets. Maximize cost reduction and service opportunities through leveraging total corporate volume with truckload, less-than-truckload, and intermodal freight carriers. Required:
Bachelor’s degree in supply chain, Logistics, Engineering, Finance, Accounting, or related field. Equivalent experience considered. 0-3 years as a Transportation Specialist/Planner utilizing a TMS (MercuryGate preferred) to manage shipments and transportation operations or logistics experience. Stable organizational skills, meticulous, and people skills Strong written & verbal communication skills Must be able to prioritize workload and deliver to timelines. Ability to define problems, to collect data, to establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Possess intellectual curiosity and initiative. Must be creative, resourceful, organized & able to work well independently & as part of a team. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced operational environment and manage multiple tasks. Ability to collaborate and communicate with all levels of employees and management. Ability to use technology to solve business problems.Preferred / Plus

Pay Range: $52,500.00 - $69,930.00
