ResponsibilitiesLogistics Brokers are responsible for coordinating the loading and unloading of freight while meeting the customer’s service requirements by performing the following duties:
Utilize an existing freight network to determine types of loads and destinations that need to be hauled and delivered.Negotiate rates with third-party carriers in order to reach an agreement on an appropriate rate for both Prime and the carrier relative to market conditions.Consistently strive to build a strong base of carriers that reliably haul freight for Prime’s customers.Utilize a variety of methods to locate third party carriers that match Prime’s freight movement needs.Prepare loading and unloading plans for drivers.Inform drivers of loading locations, dates and times.Checking on status of loads continuously.Maintain customer service requirements.Practice punctuality and efficiency when completing all assigned tasks.Complete continuing training as directed by management.Practice Company Core Values.Performs related work as required. Qualifications
QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Any combination of education, training, and experience providing the following knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Knowledge
Basic knowledge of trucking/transportation industry preferred, but not required. Prior sales experience also preferred but not required.
Abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and conflict resolution skills, and the ability to execute logical decisions quickly. Ability to multitask in dynamic, fast-paced, team oriented environment. Good computer and keyboarding skills with the ability to accurately type at 45 WPM. Proficient in Excel, Word, and Outlook. Require flexible schedule with the ability to work at least 48 hours per week and be on-call if issues with fleet arise.
Experience, Education, and Training
Four year college degree in Logistics or other business related field or at least one year brokering experience preferred.
Physical Requirements
Must be able to sit for a large portion of the day. Also needs to be able to multitask, talk on the telephone for extended periods of time and type efficiently.
Working Environment
Primarily indoors with heating and cooling regulated in a general office environment. Surroundings can be noisy at times.
