Logistics Manager

Job Description

We seek an experienced Logistics Manager position in our Houston, TX manufacturing facility, where we manufacture innovative automation equipment that prefabricates floor & roof truss assemblies. This position will report directly to the Plant Manager for the daily operations to execute and implement standard processes, procedures, and methods to increase productivity while ensuring smooth product flow within the MiTek Supply Chain. The scope of this position encompasses supporting, directing, and managing the day-to-day logistics team activities within MiTek Manufacturing and Supply Chain, including but not limited to shipping, receiving, inventory management, and material flow, including TL/Flatbed traffic, LTL carrier transactions, and parcel shipments. The ideal candidate should also possess proven leadership skills and a solid ability to problem-solve and make sound decisions.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

Essential Functions:

Manage staffing, development, and motivation of Material Coordinators / Logistics Coordinators to accomplish all scheduled work within the standard work environment.

Maintain a safe workplace for the staff through training, education, and adherence to safety rules and best practices.

Build structure around the stockroom functions, Material Coordinators, and Logistics Coordinators.

Manage all inventory and material flow within the stockroom and throughout the plant.

Focus on Best-in-Class Logistics practices/targets; Cycle Counts drive to 98% stock accuracy, OTIF, OTD, Receipts within 24 hours of Delivery, etc.

Drive continuous improvement efforts into the facility for Logistics functions. i.e., Standard Work, SOP, and Facility Safety Efforts

Works with Inventory system to create reports and analytical information required to resolve issues with Orders and inventory.

Develop, track, and report appropriate Logistics KPI

Able to support disaster recovery plans to ensure customers receive uninterrupted service during times of crisis.

In partnership with the Supply Chain and Global Trade and anti-corruption Team, provide training and materials implementing best practices, facilitating change, and assuring ownership of business processes across logistics.

Miscellaneous other duties as the needs of the business dictate.

Skills & Abilities:

Education & Experience: ​

7-10 years of experience in a manufacturing and warehouse environment in a related industry preferred.

Bachelor’s degree in business administration, logistics, or a related field is preferred.

Previous supervisory experience is a must.

Strong knowledge of shipping and receiving procedures and regulations, operations, and general transportation processes

Excellent leadership and team management skills.

Proficiency in using inventory management software and other related computer applications.

Experience with SAP or QAD Manufacturing ERP is preferred.

Knowledge of Microsoft Windows and Office and proficient skills in the Office Suite

Ability to communicate effectively on KPIs, logistics, and compliance issues verbally and in writing. Able to translate data into useful information.

Ability to deal calmly and effectively in stressful situations with sensitivity to others' needs and with a positive demeanor.

Exceptional organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks.

Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to resolve issues efficiently.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

License and/or Certification(s):

Forklift certification.
