This position is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Global Shipping and Logistics functions to include the distribution and shipment of materials, parts, supplies and equipment. In addition, this position is responsible to leading our Global Project Logistics team and functions including all forward and reverse logistics planning and execution. Plans and directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures and policies. Works with other sites to develop and modify uniform operating procedures for the Company. Interprets and executes operational policies and procedures. Develops documentation and reports to reflect department activities. Develops programs and procedures for the training of assigned personnel. Responsible for ground and air transport of hazardous materials and shipment of ITAR materials.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Supervises the daily activities of the Global Shipping and Project Logistics departments by prioritizing work assignments for shipping personnel; plans and executes department workload to meet schedules.Acts as the primary contact with Planning, Purchasing and Contracts departments to resolve issues in the areas of production shortages, order discrepancies and export controls.Negotiates shipping and transportation rates with airfreight, ocean and trucking companies.Implements quality standard procedures for the department, as well as departmental training procedures for personnel.May develop new or revise existing electronic or hard copy systems and makes internal presentations.Oversees and approves the shipping and transportation of hazardous materials; ensures compliance with all required documents and declarations.Works with numerous internal customers and teams including the Program Office, Supply Chain, Procurement, Production Planning and Manufacturing.Plans and develops complex forward and reserve solutions across the globe.Oversees customer shipments of aircraft systems, acts as primary contact to military organizations responsible for movement of equipment.Participates in the selection, retention and development of personnel including interviewing, performance appraisals and promotion recommendations.Develops programs and procedures for the training of personnel.Responsible for observing all laws, regulations, and other applicable obligations wherever and whenever business is conducted on behalf of the Company.Expected to work in a safe manner in accordance with established operating procedures and practices.Additional Functions:Other duties as assigned or required.We recognize and appreciate the value and contributions of individuals with diverse backgrounds and experiences and welcome all qualified individuals to apply.
