Logistics Operations Manager

What you will do

About Us: In October 2024, the Kings Mountain truck cab production plant became part of the Volvo Group, joining the GTO North America Manufacturing organization. KMO is responsible for the production and quality assurance of all Mack Truck cabs for the North American market.
 
In this position the successful applicant will plan, direct, and monitor all warehouse and logistics functions at the Kings Mountain Operations (KMO) plant.  You will be responsible for developing and implementing materials handling procedures; monitor the cost and effectiveness of activities to optimize resources, prioritize spending and achieve volume, timeliness, reliability, and safety standards. Oversee the maintenance of inventory control systems that track the status of purchase orders, inventory levels, and production requirements. Interpret inventory requests, production schedules, orders, and other documents. Liaise with functional or operational area managers as well as with any 3PL companies we may do business with.  Lead, direct, evaluate, and develop a team of professional Logistics Operations Supervisors across multiple shifts. 
 
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

Ensures through proper direction, coaching, control, coordination and delegation that all logistics policies, programs, and assignments are carried out effectively to attain the desired results in Inventory, Internal and External flows, and 3PL management. Support a team of professionals, including supervisors, inventory control specialist, cycle counters and material handlers whom all support the internal logistics flows & processes for KMO. Support logistics preparation and changes on KMO product & industrial projects. Support Volvo Production Systems (VPS) mindset in Logistics. Manage activities with Logistics Operations Supervisors in order to improve POU by implementing X-Functional KAIZEN & Root Cause Analysis. Maintain performance metrics of Logistics Process: Receiving/Warehousing, Picking & Delivery, Repacking, Transporting, Kitting using PFEP tool (Plan For Every Part). Assess appropriate material handling equipment needs & control Fleet Management. Act as the primary point of contact from Volvo/Mack for any 3PL companies. Communicating data points and managing staff to meet deadlines. Overseeing inventory levels, cycle count program, and maintenance of the inventory system. Monitor and implement safety protocols.

MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
           

Bachelor’s degree and/or 5-7 years of related field experience
