Logistics Specialist FT - Salt Lake City, UT

Job Functions, Duties, Responsibilities and Position Qualifications:

The Logistics Specialist is responsible for ensuring that adequate inventory of supplies are maintained to ensure we can satisfy the specimen shipping needs of our clients. The Logistics Specialist will ensure the timely delivery of material to clients and manage the collection and deliver of sample from the client’s location to our labs.  They will also interact with national logistics providers such as FedEx and UPS as well as with courier organizations to help establish and update services as needed, be involved in the contracting process and initiate onboarding and offboarding of these service providers. 

Duties/Responsibilities

Establish and maintain maximum and minimum inventory consumables levelsCoordinate with sales team to successfully onboard new clients ensuring that adequate supplies are shipped to the client’s site on timeMonitors and tracks shipments to ensure on time deliveriesWorks with carriers to troubleshoot delivery issues in real timeCoordinates courier services to ensure pickup schedules are maintainedTracks all shipments of specimens from client’s site to our labs and works with shipping carriers to troubleshoot slow, late, or missing shipmentsWorks with clients with special shipping needsMay perform other related tasks as neededInvestigates shipping options for new clients or markets and makes recommendations to senior management on best approaches to service themInitiates rate negotiations with providers in order to ensure we’re getting the best pricing possibleCollaborates with lab personnel to manage inventory of laboratory supplies, ensuring optimal stock levels are maintained using a minimum/maximum system.Orders necessary lab supplies, ensuring timely delivery and cost efficiency.Prepares and submits month-end inventory reports, tracking usage patterns and forecasting future supply needs.

Job can be remote8:00 AM - 5:00 PM

Required Skills/Abilities:

Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skillsStrong knowledge of MS Word and MS ExcelProficient with Google workplace or MS OfficeMust be able to be self-directed, and self-motivatedMust have strong organizational skillsGreat interpersonal skills and excellent communication skills

Education & Experience:

Associate degree in Business Administration, Logistics, Supply Chain Management or related field of study3 or more years’ experience in the logistics/purchasing fieldOR any acceptable combination of education, certification, and experience.
