Logistics Specialist II

SUMMARY/JOB PURPOSE:

The Logistics Specialist II is responsible for the oversight of transportation for the clinical supply chain and development functions. This individual possesses strong knowledge of domestic and international import/export legislation and can effectively troubleshoot any issues that may arise in international freight transportation. Key focus and experience with Cold Chain Logistics is required for the role. Ensures proper communication and handling of freight in transportation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Interface with a diverse internal cross functional team across development, clinicaland commercial manufacturing, and quality functions as well as external partners to support the coordination of inbound and outbound logistics activities.Oversee activities of transportation freight forwarders, carriers and customs brokers.Document and monitor the on-time and in-full delivery of product to third-party warehouses manufacturing and/or commercial partners.Understand import/export requirements for global logistics.Review documentation for completeness and accuracy and coordination between vendor partners, carriers and brokers.Maintain supporting documents for inventory movements and shipments according to record retention policies.Monitor critical shipments across each leg of transport and resolve shipping-related issues.Report and investigate shipping events, deviations and corrective actions in collaboration with quality utiliizing eQMS.Identify risks and sensitivities to drug supply and work with internal partners to develop and implement mitigation strategies.Document and manage shipping lanes for clincial and commercial supply shipments.Perform shipping studies in collaboration with packaging engineers.Assist in the administration of the Transportation Management System (TMS) to include maintaining updated vendor and commodity information.Timely review of carrier invoices for payment and rectify accounts payable discrepancies.Keep abreast of regulatory changes for shipping, importing, and exporting regulations.Perform impact assessments for change controls related to logistics.Draft standard operating procedures and work instructions related to the scope of work.Ad hoc projects as needed to support department and corporate goals and initiatives.

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:

Education/Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in related discipline and a minimum of three years of related experience; or,Master’s degree in related discipline and a minimum of one year of related experience; or,Equivalent combination of education and experience.

Experience/The Ideal for Successful Entry into Job:

Global transportation logistics experience.Experience with Global Import and Export Regulations.Experience with cold chain logistics.Experience with commercial supply chain logistics.

Knowledge/Skills:

Knowledge of Documentation Requirements for shipments.Possesses a strong understanding of GxP in relation to transportation.Strong Microsoft Office Skills; specifically, in Excel and Outlook.Ability to multi-task and prioritize numerous tasks and complete under time constraints.Ability to determine the appropriate applications for oversite of shipments.Ability to determine the appropriate packaging and transport provider for shipments.Overall knowledge of the pharmaceutical supply chain processes.Ability to build relationships internally and externally.Effective communication skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Environment: primarily working indoors, in an office environment.Required to work after/before hours and on weekends when overseeing shipments.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several U.S. geographic markets, and we pay differently based on those defined markets. The base pay range for this position is $77,500 - $109,500 annually. The base pay range may take into account the candidate’s geographic region, which will adjust the pay depending on the specific work location. The base pay offered will take into account the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience and internal equity, among other factors.
