PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Logistics Supervisor will champion three key areas of our operations; the warehouse, the gypsum process, and the box building team. This position will be responsible for all aspects of these areas including, but not limited to, championing safety, management of the team, setting of schedules, creating and implementing performance metrics, managing shipping operations, and working with internal and external customers to ensure needs are meet.
This position reports directly to the Plant Operations Leader.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Live the Safety stand, adhere to the safety responsibilities.
Living the safety stand and adhering to safety responsibilities. Adheres to, and continuously improves, all plant and position-specific safety policies, procedures, and standards. Ensures a safe, clean, and environmentally compliant work environment and builds a culture where safety is the top priority. Investigate and address safety concerns.
2. Responsible for all aspects of the process for the owned areas.
Ensures accuracy of transaction, order details and inventory. Develop, implement, and execute inventory management strategy. Develop and manage team performance metrics. Manage forklift fleet and associated systems. Determine weekly workloads and schedules shift assignments accordingly. Develop and execute a training system focused on safety and polyvalency. Generate necessary reports to support organizational requirements. Manage and deploy business continuity plan for responsible areas including documentation of key processes and requirements. Oversee SAP operations to maintain system integrity. Anticipating risks for responsible areas and preparing organization for potential impact. Manages daily Warehouse and Shipping operations to ensure on-time and efficient delivery and customer satisfaction: Lead operations and 30+ personnel; including areas that operate 24/7/365. Shift resources to meet shipping, customer, and production demands. Sustain high levels of product quality, with a target of zero SEC’s. Root cause SEC issues and ensure proper controls are in place to prevent future issues. Communicate expectations and hold team members accountable for delivering results. Foster an environment that promotes teamwork, inclusion, engagement, and development. Maintain plant housekeeping (5S) expectations for all responsible areas. Communicate any concerns or issues that occur during the shift. Hold start of shift huddle to drive teams knowledge and engagement. Ensure that shift employees have adequate coverage for breaks while filling orders. Ensure verification of inbound and outbound freight. Process daily activity reports. Hold communications as needed with customer service center, transportation personnel, sales force, and regional planning. Maintain good working relationship with carriers, customers, and colleagues.
JOB REQUIREMENTS
Experience:
Bachelor’s degree or a minimum 3 - 5 years’ work experience in manufacturing, industrial, logistics or related field preferred. Good communication skills to ensure shipping employees understand goals for the shift and expectations. Strong knowledge of SAP desired. Experience making high-impact decisions in fast-paced environment. Prior people leadership experience strongly preferred. Working knowledge with TPM is desired.
