The School Counselor will play a key role in supporting the academic, emotional, social, and career development of students. This position involves working closely with students, parents, teachers, and administrators to create a positive and nurturing school environment. Responsibilities: + Student Support: + Provide individual and group counseling to address academic, social, and emotional challenges. + Assist students in setting realistic academic and career goals. + Foster self-awareness, self-confidence, and problem-solving skills among students. + Academic Guidance: + Collaborate with teachers to identify students in need of additional support. + Develop strategies to improve student performance and address learning difficulties. + Guide students in course selection and planning for future educational pathways. + Crisis Intervention: + Respond promptly to student crises and provide appropriate intervention or referrals. + Assist in managing and resolving conflicts between students, teachers, or parents. + Career and College Preparation: + Provide resources and guidance on career exploration, college applications, scholarships, and financial aid. + Organize workshops or seminars on career readiness and life skills. + Collaboration: + Partner with teachers, administrators, and parents to support student well-being and academic success. + Participate in school-wide initiatives and committees focused on student development. + Serve as a liaison between the school and external community resources, such as mental health professionals or social services. + Program Development and Evaluation: + Plan and implement school-wide programs to promote mental health, anti-bullying, and inclusivity. + Monitor and assess the effectiveness of counseling programs and make improvements as needed. Qualifications: + Master’s degree in School Counseling. + State certification or licensure as a School Counselor. + Previous experience working with children or adolescents in an educational setting is preferred. + Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills. + Ability to maintain confidentiality and build trusting relationships with students, parents, and staff. + Knowledge of current counseling practices, behavioral management strategies, and educational resources.
