Under the direction of the Manager of Center for Coordinated Care, performs daily activities required for the operation of the Ambulatory Clinic. Responsible for outpatient clinic duties, education, and routine clerical functions. May occasionally visit an inpatient being discharged to the outpatient ambulatory clinic as needed for education. Performs various health screenings in the clinic including, but not limited to vitals, point of care testing, bio-impedance measurement, PFT’s, phlebotomy, etc.
Receives consultation request, checking for special instructions. Pleasantly greets patients confirming their identification and introduces self. Assists with and performs various medical procedures, including but not limited to the following: review medical history, spirometry, point of care testing, bio impedance testing, TB tests, vital signs, vision tests, hearing tests, dipstick urinalysis, phlebotomy, vaccinations, drug and alcohol testing, and PFT’s. Prepares room, equipment, and materials as needed for patients. Prepares patient and explains procedures for treatment, phlebotomy, and/or bio-impedance. Maintains necessary certifications for clinic skills and willing to learn new skills as needed/requested. Able to administer intradermal, subcutaneous and intramuscular injections after passing competencies.Obtains blood from patients through venipuncture under generally accepted aseptic techniques, labels tubes correctly and delivers the specimens and requisitions to the appropriate lab.
Knowledge of the needs of patients according to their age group and the ability to modify care according to patient’s age. Will most frequently care for adults and geriatric patients; and on occasion, adolescents and children.
What You Will Need: LPN licensed by the State of Ohio required. Previous Phlebotomy and EKG experience preferred. Strong leadership and communication skills. Maintains and upgrades own professional development and necessary certifications without prompting. Must be currently certified in adult CPR/BLS, and maintain certifications. Ability to operate EKG machines. Ability to perform blood pressure, pulse, respirations and temperature readings. Must possess a valid State of Ohio motor vehicle operator's license and be insurable under Firelands' auto policy. Employee must provide proof of personal automobile liability insurance coverage upon request.
Successful completion of a ninety (90) day probationary period.
