JOB SUMMARYAs supervised and delegated by a registered nurse, provides direct patient care in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.

Reports to: Manager, Physician Practices

FLSA: Non-exemptESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSUnder the direction of a physician or mid-level provider, contributes to the assessment of patients by collecting data for analysis by the physician or mid-level provider.Monitors, documents, and communicates patient's status and reactions to interventions with care providers, patient, and families.Works as an advocate for the physical and emotional well-being of the patient.Performs skilled practical nursing procedures or treatments (e.g. administers oxygen, conducts blood glucose testing, applies sterile dressing, collects specimens), assists physicians (e.g. w/client and new employee exams, treatments and/or lab tests) and assists in emergencies (e.g. w/client first aid, cardio-pulmonary resuscitation, restraining clients), conducts neurological and circulation assessments, medication in oral, rectal or injection form (i.e. administers intramuscular and subcutaneous injections and TB skin tests), and provides medication instructions to clients.Maintains medication records.Provides general nursing direct care.
JOB REQUIREMENTSMinimum EducationAssociates Degree or Diploma in LPN required.Required SkillsRequires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.Certifications:Basic Life Support (BLS)Licenses: Current LPN license to practice in NC (NC license or multi-state compact license).Minimum Work Experience1-3 years experience highly preferred.
