As an LPN in the Primary Care Department at Indian River Hospital's Sebastian Medial Suites, you will use your nursing skills to provide exception patient care. You will assist with rooming patients, fulfilling refill requests, making referrals and giving injections to help facilitate an efficient, cohesive unit for your fellow LPNs, physicians and other healthcare staff.
A caregiver in this position works days from 7:30AM - 4:00PM.
A caregiver who excels in this role will:
Provide patient care and medication administration, as needed and directed.Involve patient/family in the development of care plan. Explain and document procedures and interventions. Identify and perform appropriately in emergent situations. Assist multidisciplinary team with all processes related to patient care. Delegate responsibilities to staff based on patient needs and staff competencies. Utilize and document patient safety restraints per hospital policy. Perform all IV skills including starts according to unit policy. Document medications on medication administration record (MAR). Monitor patient's response to medications and reports appropriately. Report medication errors and adverse reactions per hospital policy. Demonstrate knowledge concerning medications, including side effects. Develop plan based on educational assessment. Provide patients with discharge instructions/education and facilitates a safe discharge.Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
Graduate of an accredited Practical or Vocational Nursing ProgramBasic Life Support (BLS) Certification through American Heart Association (AHA) Current Florida licensure as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) Knowledge of Infection Control practicesPreferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include:
