Akron General's 7100 Unit is a high acuity cardiac telemetry and med/surg unit. This fast-paced unit cares for patients who require extensive ADL assistance, high risk fall patients, and patients with pneumonia, FTT, weakness, confusion, sepsis, PEG care, central lines, multiple antibiotic therapies, blood transfusions, IV push/cardiac drip titration medications and tracheostomies. This unit will provide you with positive team interactions, preceptorship, and opportunities for education, training, certification, and career growth. **A caregiver in this position works 7:00pm - 7:30am.** A caregiver who excels in this role will: + Work under the direction of an RN or physician to provide basic bedside care. + Collect, document and report patient data and observations. + Implement care plans as directed by an RN and contribute to care plan revisions. + Administer medications and/or treatments authorized by a provider and observe patients for adverse reactions. + Perform routine laboratory tests. + Educate patients and family members. Minimum qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + Graduate of an accredited practical or vocational nursing program. + Current Ohio license as a Licensed Practical Nurse. + Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association (AHA). Preferred qualifications for the ideal future caregiver include: + One year of patient care experience.
