+ 36 hours/week
+ Night Shift 7p-7a Sun/Mon/Tues
+ Correction or Psych experience is preferred but not required
The Corrections Licensed Practical Nurse works in close andimmediate contact with adults and children in custody on a daily basisproviding general and emergency nursing care in the Medical and Ambulatorysection of the Corrections Facility while maintaining facility securitystandards.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
+ Utilizes the nursing process to plan, implement, treat and evaluate the patient/inmate
+ Integrates and implements referrals of inmates to the staff physician, nurse practitioner, dentist, mental health professional
+ Looks for signs and symptoms indicating physiologic and psychosocial changes in the patient’s condition and reports to RN and/or physician
+ Collaborates with RN regarding the plan of care according to evaluation, changes in medical plan of care, and effective/ineffective nursing interventions
+ Documents patient’s response to nursing and other interventions
+ Monitors the safety and effectiveness of the environment and equipment
+ Participates in infection control activities as directed by Infection Control Coordinator and/or nursing supervisor
+ Participates in the orientation and continuing education of staff as applicable
+ Participates in the Health Quality Improvement Program as applicable
+ Adheres to all facility policy and procedure
+ Follow security guidelines and protocol on tools/sharps counts and ingress/egress policies at all times
+ Performs other duties as assigned/necessary
Minimum Requirements:
+ Possesses a current Practical Nursing License in the applicable state
+ Minimum of one year experience in Corrections preferred
+ Complies with all relevant professional standards of practice
+ Participation and completion of Amergis' Competency program when applicable
+ Current CPR if applicable
+ TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable
+ Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation)
+ Must meet all federal, state and local requirements
+ Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site
+ Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements
+ Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors, co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required
+ Computer proficiency required
+ Must be at least 18 years of age
