**Job Summary and Qualifications**
The Licensed Practical Nurse/Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) delivers high quality, patient-centered care by performing a variety of delegated basic patient care services. In collaboration with the RN and other members of the care team, the LPN/LVN provides individualized, comprehensive care consistent with the scope and standards of the specialty.
**Position Summary** : The Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care under the supervision of a registered nurse. To collaborate with other members of the health care delivery team including physicians, to deliver quality healthcare.
+ Provides professional nursing care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse using the nursing process.
+ Participates in the unit based Quality improvement process.
+ Supports, maintains, and provides an environment, which is supportive of quality patient care through effective use of resources and personnel.
+ Plans and implements patient care and teaching based on an assessment of the patient.
+ Promotes and displays a positive customer oriented demeanor to patients, visitors, staff, and physicians.
+ Actively seeks ways to control costs without compromising patient safety, quality of care, or the services delivered.
+ Demonstrates knowledge of the occurrence reporting system. Uses system to report potential patient safety issues.
+ Follows established guidelines for reporting a significant medical error or unanticipated outcome in the patient’s care which results in patient harm.
+ Attends in-service presentations and completes all mandatory education, training, and competency assessments.
+ Uses Performance Improvement Plan to improve patient safety.
**EDUCATION REQUIRED AND/OR PREFERRED:**
+ Graduated from LPN training program
**LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:**
+ Current FL LPN license required or appropriate compact licensure. If compact license held, active FL LPN license required within 90 days of hire.
+ BCLS–AHA Healthcare Provider certification required upon hire
+ Successfully completed 30 Hour IV Therapy Course or equivalent as defined by the IV Therapy Guidelines issued by the Education Department of the National Federation of License Practical Nurses (Florida Administrative Code 64B9-12.005) required upon hire
+ ACLS required within 90 days of hire
+ PALS required within 90 days of hire
+ CPI required within 90 days of hire
**EXPERIENCE REQUIRED OR PREFERRED:**
+ Acute care experience preferred
**SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:**
+ Reads and writes Basic English with the basic skills necessary to transcribe physician’s orders
+ Knowledge of body substance isolation.
+ Ability to listen, empathize and respond to patient, family, internal and external partners needs
+ Basic computer skills
