The 1:1 School LPN/LVN identifies and treats healthdisorders among students in the school setting. The 1:1 School LPN/LVN providesinstruction for the student’s general wellbeing and disease prevention. TheSchool LPN/LVN monitors the student’s physical conditions in the school settingand refers the student to appropriate resources as needed. The work of the School LPN/LVN is performedin compliance with his/her LPN/LVN scope of practice and according to stateeducation codes. Position Transport RN or LPN Location AM Pickup time: 6:50 am at the Pediatric Care Facility . Am Drop off time: approximately 7:15 am at the childs school. PM pickup would be 1:45p Start Date ASAP Duration June 21st (potential to extend) Schedule See above Job Description The medical diagnosis is hypoxic ischemic encephalopathy, anoxic brain injury, spasticity and seizure disorder. The student is nonverbal and uses an AAC device. Transportation checklist: - Emergency medication (Nayzilam 5mg for seizure activity 5 min or longer ) must be transported to and from school with student and nurse - Monitor for seizure activity (description: persistent twitching and absence seizures, always keep track of time and count to report to the nurse.) - Farrell valve system (connected to G-tube) in place & unclamped (ALWAYS double-check and ask the student’s nurse if the farrell bag is ready to travel.) - Kangaroo e-pump (Stop & flush any running feed prior to van moving. May reconnect on arrival to destination & vehicle stops). - Monitor for lip biting (If the student is in a tonic/clonic position, wait until she releases her grip before gently pulling down on her chin to stop the biting.) - AAC device (When commuting to school, she should always have her communication device with her.)
