Job Description
Monday - Friday; no nights, weekends or holiday requirement. LPN would act as the ADT Nurse (Admission, Discharge, Transfer) Nurse.
Job Summary
Provides prescribed medical treatment and nursing care to patients under the supervision of a Staff RN.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Consults with and keeps RN informed of activities, needs and problems with regard to assigned patients.
• Administers medications and performs treatments as ordered by physician to assigned patients and documents effectiveness/results on patient record.
• Uses Meditech Information System to enter and document orders.
• Provides quality nursing care through professional practice and clinical competence.
• Assists in development, and revisions of care plans.
• Assists in patient admission; obtaining history, vital signs, and home medications.
• Assists in patient teaching assignments.
• Works willingly and accepts assignments as given.
• Demonstrates professionalism and works cooperatively with others.
• Participates in opportunities that enhance personal and professional growth.
• Attends 75% of unit and in-service meetings.
• Assists in orientation of new staff to position.
• Performs other duties as necessary or assigned.
• Attends all mandatory meetings and programs.
• Complies with the Corporate Compliance Policy and all laws, regulations, and Standards of Conduct relating to the position and agrees to report any suspected violations of law or Standards of Conduct.
• Complies with all applicable state and federal regulations and JCAHO standards.
• Maintains a safe work environment using safe work practices, utilizing standard precautions and complying with hazardous waste procedures at all times as described in St. Anthony's Safety Manual.
• Maintains the confidentiality of patient, resident, employee and organizational information.

Education and/or Experience
• Certificate from college or technical school.
Position Requirements, Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
• Graduate of an accredited School for Licensed Practical Nurses.
• Currently licensed in State of Iowa as a Practical Nurse.
• BCLS certification within three months of employment.
Language Skills
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, patients, families and other employees or the organization.
