LTC OMBUDSMAN SUPERVISOR

THIS POSITION HAS THE POTENTIAL OF EVOLVING INTO A MANAGEMENT ROLE
The LTC Ombudsman Supervisor will manage day-to-day operations of the ombudsman program. The Supervisor will lead and collaborate with the State LTC Ombudsman office, ACLS Bureau, and MDHHS to ensure adherence to program guidelines and operating standards. Responsibilities include but are not limited to: manage caseloads within the assigned facilities, the management of the Ombudsman staff and volunteers, ensuring adherence to the program guidelines and operating standards, tracking and reporting data and outcomes as required, advocating at a state and local level on behalf of the program and residents of long-term care facilities, and provide leadership to the team by providing technical assistance, program monitoring, and training to ensure compliance and quality service delivery.
Duties Include:
+ Supervise and manage the day-to-day operations of the LTC Ombudsman program, staff and volunteers. Including but not limited to program compliance, quality, case consultation, reporting, monitoring and coaching. Recruit, hire, train, and mentor new LTC Ombudsman and program volunteers.
+ Collaborate with the LTC Ombudsman office and ACLS Bureau for program updates, submitting and reviewing reports, follow-up on issues/concerns within the program, notification of changes within the program. Identify areas for program growth and quality improvement.
+ Provide education, training, and outreach individually or in group settings as appropriate. Work collaboratively with the Research and Advocacy team to develop advocacy efforts in support of program funding and resident rights.
+ Participate in required training and maintain certification for the Ombudsman program. Ensure that staff and volunteers are trained and maintain required program certification. Participate in all AgeWay’s agency-required trainings.
+ Manage caseloads within assigned facilities by providing support and assistance to residents in understanding their rights and advocating on their behalf as needed. Assist with the complaint resolution process through negotiation, mediation, and conflict resolution, and develop recommendations to address programs and non-compliant facility concerns.

Qualifications
Minimum requirements include:
+ Bachelor Degree minimum, Master Degree. MSW, MPA, or MBA preferred.
+ Minimum 3-5 years in non-profit management, program management, advocacy, Health and Human Service experience preferred.
+ Broad knowledge of human services issues as they impact the older adult population. Knowledge and understanding of resident rights within long-term care facilities.
+ Ability to maintain program and participant confidentially at all times as required by program guidelines.
+ Experience working with older adults and adults with disabilities.
+ Working knowledge of public administration principles and practices, state and federal laws, issues and trends affecting health and long-term care.
+ Public speaking is required with the ability to present ideas in a clear and concise manner, when facilitating group discussions, conducting trainings for older adults, staff, and the aging network.
+ Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication, presentation, organizational, supervisory, analytical, training, and program management skills.
+ Effective time management skills including the ability to meet deadlines.
+ Previous supervisory experience or have the ability to effectively develop a team like working environment and effectively lead others.
+ Intermediate Microsoft Office skills.
