Overview

The Lights and Sound Technician is responsible for executing the operation of the light and sound mixing for the Luau Show, including before, during and after each performance.  An integral part of their responsibility is to work in conjunction with the Luau Stage Manager under the direction of the Luau Artistic Director to maintain the quality of the Luau Show.

 

This person is also be responsible for the set up and/or breakdown of the light and sound systems for the Luau show.

Responsibilities Must work closely with the Light and Sound Manager, Luau Stage Manager, Luau Artistic Director, F&B Luau Manager, and all Luau staff.Must attend all pre-shift and post shift meetings.Must attend and participate in all scheduled rehearsals and trainings for the show as required.Must perform all assigned pre-shift and post shift duties including gathering the Tech equipment nightly, ensuring nothing is left out.Responsible for executing all of the components for the Light and Sound including conducting sound checks and test any other equipment prior to the start of he Luau show to ensure equipment is working properly.Responsible to operate equipment used to amplify, record and display lights and sound for the Luau show.Responsible to learn and perform all the sound and lighting cues for all the dance numbers and songs of the luau show.Must have the ability to identify technical problems and be able to trouble shoot to resolve any issues asap.Must have the ability to operate computer network system and software applications including Microsoft and Apple programs.Must be familiar with programming lighting boards as well as lighting techniques. Must have knowledge about different audio and lighting techniques.Must assist with keeping inventory records.Responsible to ensure all equipment are kept in good condition and up to date.Responsible to report any problems or issues to the Sound and Light Manager that requires his/her attention as they arise.Must ensure compliance with all local and liquor laws and health and sanitation regulations.Must be in compliance with the Hotel rules and regulations.Must attend and participate in all department and company required meetings/training.Must provide excellent guest experience for overall guest satisfaction.Must perform other duties as directed by supervisor/management. Qualifications Proven experience in a show production role or equivalent.Must possess high level of technical proficiency and knowledge of sound and lightning techniques to enhance the performances of the Luau show.Must be able to work in conjunction with the Light and Sound Manager, Luau Stage Manager, Luau Artistic Director, F&B Luau Managers, and Luau staff.Must be able to interact with fellow co-workers, managers/supervisors, guests and others with respect and honesty.Must be able to work cohesively with fellow co-workers and managers/ supervisors as part of a team.Must attend all scheduled rehearsals, training, and hotel required meetings.Must have a positive attitude.Must be able to read and write in the English language.Must be able to effectively communicate both verbally and written, with all levels of management, employees, guest and others in an attentive friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.Must be able to approach all encounters with management, employees, guest and others in an attentive, friendly, courteous and service oriented manner.Must be effective at listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by management, employees, guests, and others.Must have excellent decision-making skills and be effective in handling problems, including anticipating, preventing, identifying and solving problems as necessary.Must have basic computer skills and knowledge of computer programs including MS Office/Word/Excel, etc.Must be detail oriented and able to perform job functions with accuracy.Must be able to multitask and prioritize duties and functions according to the Luau Show’s needs to meet deadlines.Must be available for flexible scheduling to meet the needs of the Luau Show including evenings, weekends and holidays.Must be flexible and able to adjust to changes nightly according to the needs of the Luau Show. Must comply with Highgate Hotel Standards and regulations to encourage safe and efficient hotel operations.Must comply with all departmental and company policies.Must be able to maintain confidential information.Must perform other duties as direct/assigned by managers/supervisors.
