Position Objective:

The System Pharmacy Business Manager plans, coordinates, measures, controls, tracks, and implements all phases of contracting, purchasing and inventory management for Luminis Health Pharmacies.  This system position contributes to the disbursement, transferring, charge auditing, and cost containment of medications for all the Luminis Health Pharmacy Practices.  Directly and indirectly manages the pharmacy purchasing and reimbursement support personnel across the organization. In addition, supports system equipment purchasing and optimization.

Works to maintain supply operational expenses within annual budgeted dollars.Oversees and facilitates allocation of expenses for pharmaceuticals, supplies, equipment and facilities repairs. Pursues and implements budget-savings initiatives. Works with the Pharmacy Directors, Managers, and P&T Committee to develop and prioritize operational budgets and negotiates medication costs. Actively participates with group purchasing organization contracts, pricing and consignment contracts for pharmaceuticals.Provides statistical analysis of drug purchases, drug utilization, trending analysis, and other reports as requested by leadership on a routine basis.Represents Pharmacy at Value Analysis meetings. Represents Pharmacy business planning at P&T Committee. Communicates consistently with Directors, Managers, Medical staff, Clinical Pharmacy staff, Pharmacy reimbursement specialists and Materials Management personnel to promote mutually beneficial goals and problem solving.Works in conjunction with Directors and Managers to optimize the utilization of current equipment. Reviews and monitors service contracts for pharmaceutical equipment. Meets with manufacturer and vendor representatives to maintain awareness of current pharmaceutical trends, evaluate current and future pricing, and identify potential cost savings.Actively communicates with Material Management to establish or maintain purchasing guidelines in accordance with purchasing rules and regulations. Responsible for all pharmaceutical purchasing requisitions, service and maintenance requests, blanket orders, non-file orders, rental contracts and consignment agreements. Oversees and enforces vendor access and conduct policies. Responsible for new product business review. Oversee contracting and price negotiations.Responsible for interviewing and selecting staff within business operations areas. Responsible for counseling employees and recommending disciplinary action, in conjunction with Luminis Health Human Resources. Continuously evaluates staff, and conducts required formal employee evaluations. Pursues and promotes measures to maintain and improve staff job satisfaction and retention.Facilitates orientation and training of new staff. Provides ongoing communication to staff members concerning Pharmacy business matters, especially updates and changes, through individual conversation and staff meetings.Participates in ongoing performance improvement. Is open to constructive feedback and integrates recommendations to practice. Adheres to Luminis Health purchasing rules and regulations. Contributes to a positive working relationship with members of the healthcare team. Maintains an environment that respects cultures, economic, ethnic, and life style differences of patient, visitors and staff. Participates individually and with teams in effort to continuously improve quality. Shares expertise and information with others.Maintain all pharmacy charge master logs. Monitor new reimbursement strategies and maintain up to date charging practices. Oversee patient billing activities to insure optimal charge capture in all areas for medications.Develops and updates policy and procedure for Pharmaceutical Procurement and supply.

Educational/Experience Requirements:

Required Minimum Education.

 Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field, or 5 years of relevant experience.

Required Minimum Experience:

 1-5 years of progressively more responsible purchasing, negotiating, inventory control, and, financial analysis work experience is required.
