This role is part of the Lunar Transportation business unit, which develops Blue Origin’s multiple Blue Moon lander product lines. To further Blue Origin's mission of having millions of people living and working in space, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a small, passionate, and accomplished team, you will facilitate and continuously improve the execution of our lunar permanence risk and opportunity management processes. Through daily direct engagement with engineering and program management teams, you will help properly characterize program risks, support development and documentation of mitigations plans, and monitor progress of these plans throughout the program lifecycle. As such, you must be an excellent listener with strong discussion facilitation skills who will seek to understand the purpose behind each identified risk and provide coaching to improve the quality of future assessments. Your role is pivotal to development and sustainment of a strong risk management culture.
You must have a passion for improving metrics and reporting systems that provide programs valuable insight into their risk posture, as well as the effectiveness of the of the risk process across programs. In this role, you will collaborate with risk managers and key stakeholders across Blue Origin to improve the effectiveness of these processes, tools, and training. Your work will enable programs to proactively adjust plans to ensure successful development and operation of complex and innovative space vehicles for various spaceflight applications. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Work directly with product owners to characterize risks/opportunities, create mitigation plans and actively monitor those plans over the program life
Facilitate integrated product team and program-level risk review boards
Coach and train team members on the effective use of risk management processes and tools
Develop reports that describe the state of risks on each program
Provide and implement recommendations to improve risk tracking tools, metrics, and reports – measuring program risk management performance and effectiveness of the risk process itself.
Minimum Qualifications
5+ years system development/integration experience or project management experience – preferably with aerospace hardware or complicated technical systems, including some aspect of product development risk management.
Familiar with structured risk management plans & risk monitoring.
Proven ability to communicate effectively both in writing and verbally with staff at all levels of the organization, external stakeholders, and customers.
Excellent technical writing and presentation skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
B.S./B.A. degree in engineering or other technical field.
Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.

5+ years of direct Risk Management experience
Experience with Confluence & JIRA
Experience with Tableau or Microsoft BI
PMP Certification
Compensation Range for:
CO applicants is $92,400.00-$129,360.00;WA applicants is $100,800.00-$141,120.00Other site ranges may differ
