This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, focusing on the Blue Moon lander product lines. We are building sustainable infrastructure for transporting crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface to advance our mission.

In this role you will lead vehicle level test planning and execution for one of Blue Origin's Lunar vehicles. You will share in the team’s impact on all aspects of spacecraft integration and test by collaborating with cross-disciplinary engineers, technicians, customers, Blue Origin teammates, Lunar Lander National Team partners, and facility operators across the USA. You will lead a team of engineers to plan, prepare, and execute system-level tests that may include functional, performance, structural, leak and pressure, shock, acoustics, vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal balance, and EMI/EMC. You will be responsible for end-to-end performance of test campaigns including development of test plans and procedures, test facility coordination and preparations, instrumentation of hardware under test, test readiness reviews, test execution, and test report generation. This leadership role works directly with the Director of Integration and Test and requires big dreams and excellent communication.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

High level test planning including assessing test requirements/standards compliance and balancing technical risks, cost, and schedule for the vehicle test programDirecting, overseeing, and mentoring a team of test engineersDeveloping Test Plans and ProceduresPreparing for tests including resource planning, staffing, facilities preparations, and preparing and executing reviews such as Test Readiness ReviewsActing as Test Director for test executionOverseeing test anomaly response and troubleshootingGenerating test reports and supporting requirements verification activities

Minimum Qualifications

Experience planning and executing tests on space hardware including functional, performance, structural, leak and pressure, shock, acoustics, vibration, thermal vacuum, thermal balance, and/or EMI/EMCExperience leading a team of engineersFamiliarity with industry test standards such as SMC-S-016Knowledge of spacecraft acceptance and qualification test, electrical ground support equipment, mechanical ground support equipment, and environmental test facilitiesFamiliarity with the Test Like You Fly assessment and exception processExcellent verbal, written, and graphical communication skillsAbility to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic work environmentBachelor’s degree in engineering, science, or an equivalent related fieldTypically 8 or more years of experienceAbility to travel as needed to support test planning and executionAbility to support odd hours and long weeks during test executionAbility to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusionBachelor's Degree in EngineeringMust be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience on NASA programs and human spaceflight programsExperience leading system-level test campaigns on large spacecraftExperience defining, designing, and/or operating spacecraft ground support equipmentExperience with scripting (Python or other scripting language)Experience with software tools such as DOORS Next Generation, Cameo, MATLAB/Simulink, Confluence, JIRA, Git, Creo, and Windchill
