Role Overview:

The Ankura TAS practice is seeking a Managing Director to lead the newly created M&A Transaction Tax practice.   As a leader within the TAS practice, you will have the chance to work with various clients and industries, providing strategic tax advice and guidance on complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestitures.  To succeed in this role, you must have a strong background in tax planning and consulting, as well as a deep understanding of M&A transactions. Responsibilities:

Lead and manage a team of tax professionals in providing strategic tax advice and guidance for complex mergers, acquisitions, and divestituresAssist in business development and go to market effortsAdvise clients on M&A tax planning strategiesProvide tax advice on M&A transactionsPerform corporate tax planning and statutory complianceAssist in establishing and managing M&A tax structuresAnalyze and review financial and operational processes of M&A transactionsLiaise with government authorities on tax mattersConduct research projects on tax-related M&A topicsDevelop and maintain strong relationships with clientsAssist in training and developing team membersParticipate in internal and external tax seminars and workshops

Requirements:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related fieldProfessional certifications such as JD or CPA preferred 8+ years corporate tax experience with an international accounting firm, law firm, or large corporationSolid understanding of the fundamentals of corporate tax planning, including statutory compliance, and experience in providing tax advice on mergers and acquisitionsGood understanding of federal tax and state and local tax (“SALT”)Excellent knowledge of the tax regulations applicable to M&A transactions, as well as a thorough understanding of the financial and operational processes of M&A transactionsDesire to engage in business development activitiesExcellent communication and interpersonal skills to interact with all levels of the organizationInventive, resourceful, with excellent analytical, modeling and problem-solving skillsStrong supervisory and project management experienceAbility to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environmentAbility to manage multiple engagementsSelf-driven, self-starter with ability to work independently in a fast-paced deal environmentWillingness to travel as needed (less than 15%)Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States without the need for visa sponsorship now or in the future.
