The Saint Alphonsus Karcher clinic is now hiring for a PRN Medical Assistant to work in their Urgent Care POD!
Position Summary & HighlightsThis position will work in the Urgent Care clinics at our Karcher (Nampa), Elm (Caldwell), and Star clinic locations as needed (see scheduling information below).
You will also have the opportunity to pick up additional shifts with other Urgent Care locations in the Treasure Valley when available.
This position will work with a variety of providers and other MAs and RNs in a fast-paced environment.
What You Will Do:In addition to primary MA duties, you will also perform phlebotomy, administer immunizations, and prep injections.
You will assist with minor procedures, complete POC and other tests, and also complete tasks and orders in the task inbox.
An ideal candidate will enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, is adaptable and dependable.
You also like working in a strong team environment, have effective communication skills, and have solid critical thinking skills.
Work Schedule:This position will ideally work 3 shifts per month, when available. May include advanced scheduling or reaching out for sick calls.
We are looking for availability Monday – Sunday, available for at least two to three days per week.
You will work 12 hour shifts, primarily 8:00am – 8:00pm, but some clinic locations work 7am – 7pm or 11am-11pm.
Orientation and Training:Will be at least 2-3 full days each week in the first two weeks, plus self-paced e-learning.
Includes EPIC Training, Quality Orientation, POC test training, and immunization training.

Minimum Qualifications:High School Diploma or equivalent required.
MA certification required within 90 days of hire from one of the following Saint Alphonsus approved agencies:
American Association of Medical Assistants (CMA)
American Medical Technologists (RMA)
National Healthcare Association (CCMA)
National Center for Competency Testing (NCMA)
National Association of Health Professionals (NAHP)
New Graduates: Completion of either 6 months MA experience or completion of 100-hour MA externship is required even with MA certification.
Medical Assistant with Experience: 1 Year of MA experience OR Current MA Certification OR obtain or renew certification within 90 days from hire from approved credentialing agencies listed above.
Basic Life Support for Healthcare providers certification from either AHA, ARC or the Military Training Network is required at hire.
*Obtaining the MA certification typically requires completing an MA Program or working as a Medical Assistant for at least 1 year. See each of the credentialing organization sites for additional details. EMT and CNA certifications will not count towards an MA certification.
