As a Lead Machine Learning Engineer, you’ll be leading technical efforts to research, develop, and applying cutting-edge machine learning systems to build innovative technologies, services, and products that solve the company's hardest problems and accelerate Best Buy's core growth. In this role you will combine your leadership skills with strong software engineering expertise and deep knowledge of ML and AI algorithms to lead technical efforts to architect, develop, and operationalize models, algorithms, and production quality codebases that form the core engines that unleash the next generation of customer experiences and transform the way Best Buy operates day-to-day.

This role is hybrid, which means you will work some days on site at a Best Buy location and some days virtually at home or another non-Best Buy location.  The specific work arrangements vary by role and team.  The recruiter or hiring manager will provide more details during the hiring process.

For this role, you must be located within a drivable distance to our office in Richfield, Minnesota,  Atlanta, Georgia or Seattle, Washington.

What you’ll doLeading the design and development of ML solutions as services
 Mentoring and coaching junior ML Engineers leveraging state-of-the-art machine learning techniques
 Partner with global cross-functional teams including AI, data, platforms, products, analytics, business and complianceApplying software engineering skills to lead development and deployment of solutions that can scale to millions of requests per second with millisecond latency
 Work through complex technical and business problems in high pressure scenarios, connecting the larger enterprise goals to teams’ tactical deliverables
Basic qualifications
 Bachelor’s degree in a highly quantitative field (computer science, engineering, physics, math, operations research or related) or equivalent relevant professional experience6 years of experience building and operationalizing ML/AI products3 years of MLOps or AIOps experience, operationalizing real-time ML/AI models with ultra-low latency and high throughput as resilient, scalable, cloud native services3 years of experience leading end to end design reviews, code reviews and deployment patterns for critical AI applications in one or more of Gen AI, supervised learning, unsupervised learning and reinforcement learning domains3 years of experience with Google Cloud Platform (GCP), building and maintaining ML/AI solutions with production grade pipelinesExpert level understanding of Python ecosystem and common AI/ML frameworks (LangChain, TensorFlow, PyTorch, scikit-learn, Seldon-Core)Expert level coding expertise in Python and SQLExpert level knowledge of MLOps/AIOps concepts and CI/CD pipelines
