**This position will work on 2nd/evening shift.**
The Entry Machinist is responsible for the successful operation of machines to produce quality parts for our Tennant products. In this role, you’ll use a variety of tools, mechanical instruments and techniques. If you are mechanically and technically inclined and pay close attention to details, then this is the role for you.
CORE RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Perform at two brush manufacturing work cells
• Set up and operate machines at a maximum efficiency rate while meeting productivity, quality and safety requirements
• Inspect parts for conformance using measuring instruments (Pull Force gauge, Tuft weight scale)
• Fabricate, modify, or repair mechanical instruments
• Read engineering blueprints, and measuring devices such as caliper, micrometer, and other gauges used in machining
• Recognize, communicate and document safety concerns
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
• H.S. Diploma or Equivalent
• 6 months – 2 years machinist experience OR machinist certificate
• Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without sponsorship
REQUIRED PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
• Requires standing 90% of shift
• Frequent bending, twisting, squatting and lifting with arms extended
• Must be able to lift up to 45 lbs. Average part weighs 5 - 15 lbs.
• Requires good manual dexterity
ENVIRONMENTAL EXPOSURES:
• Hearing and vision protection required in all areas
• Safety shoes required in all areas
• Exposure to oil, grease, dust, metal particles, sparks, sharp-edged materials
SAFETY REQUIREMENTS:
• Exposed to hazards/risks that require body protection (gloves, pants, steel toes, sleeves, safety glasses, etc.)
