Chart is currently seeking an experience Machine Operator to run the plasma table. This candidate will play a key role in the manufacturing process of Chart’s products with the operation and setup of CNC machinery. This is a dayshift position and is located in Theodore, Alabama. What Your Day-to-Day Activities Will Be… Operates CNC plasma table for cutting piece parts and steel plate Verifies conformance of machined work to specifications Reads and interprets machining instructions, job orders, and blueprints Selects and sets cutting speeds, feed rates, depths of cuts, and cutting tools Inspects and performs minor maintenance on assigned machines Maintains shop equipment, tools and production records Maintains on-hand inventory Maintains workstation with equipment in safe operating condition Performs other job-related duties, as needed May perform initial rolling of both inners/outers and prepare for tack and seam welding Your Education Should Be…High school diploma or GED; or equivalent experience and training
Your Physical Work Environment Will Require… Frequent standing, sitting, walking, bending, stooping, twisting, and occasional crawling Frequent lifting up to 50 lbs., occasional heavier lifting Frequent pushing, pulling, and handling of materials Frequent carrying up to 50 lbs. Exposure to metal cutting and welding odors May involve exposure to temperature extremes Exposure to overhead objects Exposure to occasional flying debris Required use of safety glasses with side shields, ANSI approved steel-toed safety shoes, welding helmets, and hard hats, (in designated areas) Your Professional Experience Should Be… Computer skills involving Microsoft Outlook, Excel, Word Experience using CNC software, preferably Machitech Pronest Previous experience with machine/equipment operation Experience with measuring devices, calipers, micrometers, fixed or telescoping gauges and hand tools Experience determining dimensional specifications, sequences of operations, setups and tooling requirements Knowledge of metal properties highly desired May require overtime, weekend hours and split shifts, based on business need
