Job Description
In this role, you will be responsible for operating machinery that processes large coils of metals such as stainless steel, aluminum, copper, and steel. You will use a crane to load these coils into machines that cut them into smaller coils or large sheets. This position starts as a 'packer,' where you will package the product and learn to operate the machine. After 90 days, you will join the Union and can apply for the official 'machine operator' title, which includes a pay increase.
ResponsibilitiesOperate machinery to process large coils of metal into smaller coils or sheets.Use forklifts and overhead cranes to load metal coils into machines.Package products at the end of the machine line and prepare them for shipment.Participate in the crating area to make crates for the processed metal products.Adhere to safety protocols and maintain a clean work environment.Essential SkillsPast experience in manufacturing.Willingness to work required shifts, including early mornings and weekends as needed.Comfortable working in a metal manufacturing environment with large metal coils.Basic English knowledge (bi-lingual is acceptable).Additional Skills & QualificationsExperience with machine setup.Experience working with metal coils.Experience working in a Union environment.Why Work Here?
Starting pay is $23.50 with an increase to $25.80 after gaining the 'machine operator' title. Employees receive a GAIN SHARE bonus every two weeks based on machine productivity, a $100 quarterly attendance bonus, and a $375 quarterly safety bonus. Work Environment
The facility employs 30 production employees and features overhead cranes for loading metal coils into machines and onto trucks. Trucks drive into the facility for loading. The machines cut large metal coils into smaller coils or sheets, and there is a crating area where crates are made for the products. The work hours are Monday to Friday, 7am-3:30pm, with optional Saturday shifts from 5am-1pm or 7am-3pm based on need and a 24-hour notice.
