**Machine Operator** **Paying $23.88 / HR - $24.38 / HR** **Location - Portland, OR** **Responsibilities:** + Assist with mixing, processing, and manufacturing chemicals. + Unload chemicals from tanker trucks and rail cars by hooking up hoses and pumping chemicals from to storage tanks + Fill mixing tanks with various chemicals by routing base chemicals through piping systems from storage tanks to to mixing tank. + Create new chemicals by mixing chemicals in mixing tanks. + Transport, route, and mix chemicals using computer system. + Monitor transportation, routing, and mixing of chemicals. + Manually add chemicals to mixing tanks when needed. + Test batch samples for quality. + A large portion of the job is at a desk behind a computer system using the computers to operate and monitor automated production systems. + Will wear a respirator when working in close proximity of chemicals. + Typical job duties requiring use of respirator are for 10-30 mins at a time, depending on job duty/project. + Job duties requiring use of respirator is a smaller percentage of time (approximately 20%-30% of time during a shift will require you to wear a respirator). **Qualifications:** + Must have past experience working in industrial manufacturing. + Previous experience working with chemicals is preferred but not required. + If no chemical experience the ideal candidate will have heavy industrial manufacturing experience from something like a paper mill or foundry, or technical machine operation may work as well. **Environment/ Shift:** + Industrial manufacturer, processor, and applicator of various types of chemicals. + This position is mostly in the control room where an individual will be working in more of an office setting and using computers to control the flow of chemicals thorough piping systems and mixing tanks. + Will also work on the floor at times as needed where the work environment would be a more industrial and if in close proximity to chemicals may wear a respirator. + Regular Schedule: 2pm - 10pm, Monday to Friday.
