Job Title: Machine Operator (Turret Punch Press)

Location: Webster, NY

Pay: $18-20/hr

Job Description

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Machine Operator to join our team. In this role, you will operate a turret punch press to perform precise punching and layout tasks on metal sheets, plates, strips, or bars. You will follow specified charts to ensure correct machine settings for each cut, and utilize various tools and measurement equipment to insert, align, and lock punches and dies in the turret.

Responsibilities

Insert, align, and lock punches and dies into the turret using hand tools such as hammers, shims, feelers, micrometers, and setscrews.Manually or with the use of a crane, place workpieces on the machine table.Align workpieces to the scale and end gauge on the machine, securing them to the machine table.Use the turret to select the appropriate punch and die, based on the specifications in the charts.Adjust machine settings to the specified dimensions, using cranks and machine scales.Activate the punch using a pedal and repeat the operation for each machine setting as indicated on the charts.Position and operate the center punch to lay out lines, using the turret to scratch precise layout marks.Interpret blueprints and compute punch charts, applying knowledge of shop mathematics and measurement equipment.Punch holes in nonmetallic materials when required.

Essential Skills

Previous experience operating turret punch presses.Strong proficiency in machine operation and blueprint reading.Familiarity with measurement equipment and the ability to inspect finished work.Experience in sheet metal fabrication.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

Solid understanding of shop mathematics.Excellent attention to detail and precision in all tasks.
