Adjustments and measurements may be required during the operation of these machines to ensure quality and accuracy of the finished product. The machine operator will need to select the proper tooling to run specific jobs and to help troubleshoot any issues with the machine and/or tooling. within a _manufacturing_ environment. Responsibilities for Machine Operator jobs include but are not limited to: + Performs machine and/or process operations using basic hand tools and other equipment that may be unique to the application. + Performs bench-type processes to complete mechanical assemblies and sub-assemblies, using hand tools and/or related equipment. + Performs assembly operations that are moderately complex, requiring adjusting, fitting, and aligning of components. + Completes tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision. + Works from drawings and/or specifications to produce certain products. + Reports defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor. + Inspects and tests completed units as needed + Keep work area and equipment in a clean and orderly condition and follows prescribed safety regulations. + May rotate to other workstations in the unit to gain mastery of multiple steps in the production process. + Work may involve frequent handling of moderate to heavy components. + Performs other duties as requested, directed, or assigned. Candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered for Machine Operator jobs: + High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. + Candidate should have at least some experience operating and setting up engine lathes and punch press machines. + Candidate should also have experience using basic hand tools and assembly equipment. + Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk or hear; and taste or smell. + The employee must have ability to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. + Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. + While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and risk of electrical shock.
