**Now Hiring Machine Operator's** Willing to train! Starting pay $18.00/hr, Springfield Illinois We are seeking a Machinist Trainee to join our team. In this role, you will be taught how to set up and operate CNC Machines, manual mills, and manual lathes to produce precision parts efficiently. You will work closely with a trainer, learning step-by-step procedures to become proficient in machining operations. **Responsibilities** + Position and fasten workpieces. + Align and secure holding fixtures, cutting tools, attachments, accessories, and materials onto machines. + Select appropriate tools and materials for use. + Machine parts to specifications. + Set up, adjust, and operate basic machine tools. + Calculate dimensions and tolerances using knowledge of mathematics and instruments such as micrometers and gauges. + Read and understand gauging sheets. + Read and interpret blueprints and listen to machines and tooling to ensure proper operation. + Participate in the on-boarding system, including the 5S program, hazard assessment, job logging, safety, and data sheet system. + Practice proactive safe lifting techniques and learn to use a hoist. + Take detailed notes for future reference. **Essential Skills** + Strong math skills, including decimals and fractions. + Ability to use a tape measure accurately. + Mechanical aptitude. + Trainability and willingness to learn. + Good attitude and teamwork skills. + Experience with machine operation and hand tools. + Ability to read blueprints. **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Experience with micrometers and calipers. + Experience in automotive repair, trade school, farming, or sports is a plus. **Why Work Here?** This is a great opportunity for someone wanting to learn the machining trade. Various shifts are available, including: 1st Shift: 6 am - 4:30 pm, Monday to Thursday 2nd Shift: 7:30 pm - 6 am, Monday to Thursday Day Weekend Shift: 6 am - 6:30 pm, Friday to Sunday (work 36 hours, get paid for 40) Night Weekend Shift: 6 pm - 6:30 am, Friday to Sunday (work 36 hours, get paid for 40) Some overtime is required, with efforts to provide 24-hour notice. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $18.00/hr.
