Job Description

SUMMARY
Operates and maintains multiple blow molding machines, vision systems, and laser dating systems in a safe manner to produce and audit PET containers. 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following.  Other duties may be assigned.

1.    Operates multiple blow molding machines, laser dating systems, and vision systems using written work instructions, visual management, and computer interface.
2.    Conducts quality inspections using specific written and visual guidelines.  
3.    Ensures operations are completed in accordance with Amcor Rigid Plastics USA Inc. safety procedures.
4.    Monitors operations of blow molding machine to detect machine malfunctions.
5.    Stops machines and production to report malfunctions to the process lead and/or supervisor.
6.    Performs minor adjustments to the machines to correct improper functions.
7.    Performs preventive maintenance on machines.
8.    Scans and consumes production tickets using computer interface.
9.    Accurately completes all logs, data input and written, to include hourly checks and downtime.
10.    Effectively communicates with all internal departments.
11.    Removes any damaged material from machine.
12.    Grinds defective PET containers.
13.    Maintains a clean work area and performs general housekeeping duties.

EDUCATION
High School diploma or general education (GED); or one to three months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent.

REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand or walk for 12 hours, and is frequently required to reach with hands and arms, stoop and kneel, and climb stairs.    Regularly uses hands to handle and feel product.  The employee is regularly required to communicate with other employees and be aware of sounds in the plant.  The employee must also frequently lift and/or move 50 pounds.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Job is performed near moving mechanical parts and occasionally in high, precarious places.  Safety glasses are required to be worn.  The noise level is loud, requiring hearing protection to be worn.  GMP procedures are observed in all areas of the plant. 

AUTHORIZATION
1.    Ability to shut down any machine if it poses an imminent danger to employee’s health and/or safety.
2.    Ability to shut down any machine because of a quality problem so suspect material can be contained. 
3.    Ability to shut down any if it is down three times in one hour for the same mechanical problem.
4.    Authority to contact any staff or management team member with concerns, questions or suggestions pertaining to their job or work environment.
