POSITION:                            Chino Machine Operator Downstream  

REPORTS TO:                     Shift Supervisor and/or Production Lead

                                                            Hourly

Job Summary

Performs repetitive production and packing operations to mass process products such as plastic bottles.

Essential Functions

Follows all safety policies and procedures and assists in enforcing safety rules and

                regulations.  Wears all personal protective equipment (PPE) as directed

Completes required levels training in a timely fashion, including compliance, team skills, technical training and assists in the training of coworkers. Performs routine production functions necessary to operate the production equipment to meet customer specifications.  Works at different work stations as production needs require. Works from a production schedule located within the work area. Monitors flow of product into processing machinery. Performs troubleshooting on machinery and assists in making adjustments and/or repairs to the production equipment. Stages and maintains packaging materials and follows correct packaging procedures Inputs data on a computer terminal to produce, label and package finished product. Responsible for replenishing supplies required for the assigned area. Performs housekeeping and clean up duties. Initiates, reviews and follows all standard operating procedures (SOP’s) and job safety analysis’s (JSA’s) for area of responsibility. Conducts quality inspections of in-process and/or finished product to ensure customer specifications are met. Performs individual assignments as management may direct. Ability to meet the knowledge, skills, abilities, physical requirements and working conditions set forth in this position description. Must follow company procedures, practices, and standards of conduct as outlined in the Amcor Rigid Plastics Co-worker handbook . Maintains an awareness and complies with the Environmental and Hazardous laws and follows all  Amcor Safety and Environmental policies.

Level of Authority

The Machine Operator Packaging has the authority to shut down production equipment to prevent unsafe operation and/or the production defective product.

Qualifications

Knowledge/ Skills/Abilities

High school diploma or general education degree; or one two three months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination.

Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations and the ability to functionally use a computer.

Language Skills

Must have the ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.  Ability to print and speak simple sentences.

Must be able to communicate effectively, write effectively, read, comprehend and follow verbal and written instructions.

Physical Demands

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.  Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

While the employee is performing the duties of this position that employee must be able to manipulate product with both hands, both above and below shoulder height.  The employee must be able to stand on a solid surface for a minimum of twelve hours.  The employee must be able to ascend and descend stairs and ladders.  The employee must be able to frequently lift and /or move up to fifty pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this position include close visual inspection of product.  The employee must be to perform job functions in temperatures of one hundred plus degrees during summer season and fifty degrees during winter season. Must be willing to work any shift
