Job DescriptionJob Summary:
Primary Purpose
Responsible for the safe & quality operation and proficient understanding of equipment and machinery in the Packaging Department, including; palletizers, strapping machines, box machines, tumble packer, wrapping machines, unscramblers and overall flow of product. Operation of this equipment involves performing short-cycle, repetitive, and control functions in set patterns to attain high-quality production output that meets or exceeds customer expectations.
Specific Responsibilities/Essential Functions
Abides by all Amcor’s Safety and Quality policies and procedures. Maintains standard production objectives through proper machine operation and accurately records production Knows and practices safe and proper start-up and shutdown procedures for each machine. Performs minor adjustments to machinery involving hand movements and simple hand tools to ensure smooth, continued machine operation. Has authority to stop machines/production to communicate machine problems and breakdowns to Group Leader or Maintenance Manager. Inspects product for quality defects. Has authority to stop production due to quality issues. Maintains housekeeping of all assigned areas. This includes applying Good Manufacturing Practices to meet plant goals and continuous improvement. Must be able to load knockdown boxes into magazine. Must be able to understand case packer functionality and troubleshoot problems quickly. Must be able to quickly grasp operation of downstream equipment and possess trouble-shooting ability. Must be able to understand and communicate changes in the production schedule as needed, e.g., countdown and color changes. May be required to hand pack containers into cartons on an as needed basis. Follows all established safety rules and guidelines as outlined in the Employee Handbook and as trained during the various safety-related training programs. Understands and communicates all hazards and safety issues to co-workers and managers/supervisors. Properly uses all personal protective equipment. Maintain a safe and clean work area according to company standards. Performs other related duties as directed by the Shift Supervisor/Production Manager.

High school degree or equivalent
Two or more years of employment showing steady work history. Manufacturing experience desired, but not required
Ability to demonstrate familiarity with basic computer commands and functions
Physical Requirements: This is a medium physical demand job
Lift / push / pull up to 100 pounds using a hydraulic hand jack (this is the equivalent of a static push / pull of approximately 60 pounds).
Maximum frequent individual lifting weight of 35 pounds from ground to shoulder.
Maximum frequent assisted lifting weight of 50 pounds from ground to waist.
Maximum frequent carrying weight of 50 pounds for 10 feet.
Employees are required to stand / walk for minimum of 12 hours per shift on a concrete floor.
Employees must be able to work 12-hour shifts day or nights, including weekends and holidays.
Employees are required to bend; turn / twist; kneel; squat; crawl; climb; reach out and up; turn wrist; grasp; pinch; and have finger manipulations.
Required Safety Equipment:
Employees are required to continuously wear hearing, hand, head, and eye protection, as well as protective clothing including protected toe shoes when outside of office areas.

Requirements for consideration: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide whole numbers. Proficient hand / eye coordination to operate equipment and perform job duties. Ability to speak, read, and write English in order to communicate with co-workers, read work instructions and job procedures, and document job activities.
