ABOUT THE JOB:

As a Machine Operator – Inspector in New Britain, CT, the primary function is to perform inspection and hook & coil operations on a variety of tape rule blades and parts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Perform repetitive inspection operations on tape rule blades, component parts, and finished products following standardized proceduresOperate a variety of machines to perform various operations on tape rule blades and parts by loading product in bowl or hopperPerform miscellaneous light benchwork operations such as removing jams and simple inspection on either automated or manual equipmentFeed by hand controls or by auto feed to perform operationRemove completed parts to containerGauge and visually check completed work as requiredPerform all necessary material handling requirements of the job and assist with loading of materialsMaintain a clean and orderly work areaFollow established Standard Operating ProceduresCompliance to all Plant Environmental, Health and Safety policies and Environmental and OSHA regulatory requirements and Quality PoliciesCompliance to all plant policies: Health & Safety, Environmental and OSHA, Quality, etc.Escalate unusual issues to supervisor

ESSENTIAL SKILLS & EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

High School Diploma or equivalentBasic mechanical ability, machine set-up/operation experience preferredAbility to perform basic math – add, subtract, multiply whole numbers, fractions and decimalsBasic ability to read, write and communicate in EnglishDesire to learn new skills and improve technical knowledgeStrong orientation toward quality, safety and continuous improvement demonstrated by a work history:Of safe performance,Of accuracy and attention to detail in the work performed, andOf constructive problem solving and suggestions for improvementDemonstrated ability to effectively implement or respond to changeUnderstanding and support of Company policies and procedures

PHYSICAL DEMANDS & WORK ENVIRONMENT:

Must be able to continuously perform grasping, reaching, pushing, pulling, and walkingMust be able to handle continuous standing 8-10 hours dailyMust be able to perform frequent lifting up to 30 lbs independently and up to 70 lbs with assistance.Must be able to work in an environment with various changing temperatures for portions of the year.Must be able to work daily and weekly overtime as required.
