**Machine Tear Down** **Job Description** We are seeking a skilled Machine Tear Down Technician to join our team. This role involves the disassembly and reassembly of large machinery and equipment attached to railroad cars. You will be responsible for custom work tailored to the railroad industry, utilizing various hand and power tools, and occasionally using a torch/plasma cutter. You will work with blueprints and schematics to ensure precision in each job. Experience with hydraulics is a plus. **Responsibilities** + Disassemble and reassemble large machinery and equipment attached to railroad cars. + Perform custom repairs and replacements of parts on railroad equipment. + Use various hand and power tools to complete tasks. + Utilize torch/plasma cutter as necessary (training provided). + Read and interpret blueprints and schematics to ensure accurate repairs. + Work on a variety of custom projects, with each repair potentially being different. + Tear down, repair, and fully build railroad machines and equipment. **Essential Skills** + Strong mechanical aptitude. + Experience with mechanical assembly, auto mechanics, or as a farm hand. + Proficiency with hand tools and power tools. + Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics. + Experience in maintenance repair and welding. + Knowledge of working with hydraulics or pneumatics (preferred). **Additional Skills & Qualifications** + Willingness to learn and work hard. + Enjoys working with hands and taking things apart and putting them back together. + Good work ethic and eagerness to learn. **Why Work Here?** This is a smaller, team-oriented work environment where everyone is willing to help and pitch in where necessary. The position is for the 1st shift only, from 6 am to 4:30 pm. Overtime is usually an option and occasionally required, with plenty of notice given. If overtime is required, it would be on Saturdays from 8 am to 2 pm. The position offers a 4-month contract to hire. **Job Type & Location** This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Arcola, Illinois. **Pay and Benefits** The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $21.00 Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
